Normal 10 Mo Growth Charts
A growth chart is used by pediatricians to follow a child's growth over time. Growth charts have been constructed by observing the growth of large numbers of normal children over time. The height, weight, and head circumference of a child can be compared to the expected parameters of children of the same age and sex to determine whether the ...Read more
50% tile if a boy: If your baby is a boy- this length is at 50%tile meaning 50% of children this age are larger, 50% smaller. If your baby is a girl, this length is at the 75% tile- meaning she is a bit longer than other children her age. Lengths between 10% to 95% tile are considered normal. Docs also look at weight and head circumference at the same time. Your doc will look at growth trends at each well check. ...Read more

Normal 6 month male w/nl growth and development. Disparate mid upper arm circumference--3 CM difference. Any thoughts? Thanks!
See ortho: See an orthopedist and perhaps a neurologist. Questions to be answered are is it muscle not developing because of nerve issue or just born that way or is there a muscle problem. Is the smaller arm the problem or does the bigger arm have the issue? Can he use both equally? These are best answered with orthopedics and neurology visits. ...Read more
80-120: Pulse (rate of heart beats per minute) varies considerably depending on if the child is asleep or awake; active or passive; energetic or docile. It can quickly ramp up or down to adapt to environmental, activity, and internal triggers. But overall heart rate should be between 80-120 around 10 months of age. ...Read more
9.7 mnth old has a head circum. of 44cm,47.3% range on growth chart. Is this normal? She babbles, crawls, pulls self up.Not much change from 6mnth appt.
Missing information: Head circumference is normal, near average, but we need the velocity of its growth. Head growth slows normally after 6 mos., but should plot along or near the same growth curve it's always followed. Strings of babbling at 6 mos. become non-specific " da-da, ma-ma" in 9th mo. Gross motor is good. Screens are on firstsigns.org. Follow-up with pede. & MS Early Intervention Program if concerned. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What normal weight/height gain for 7 months premature baby boy who born at birth 1.67 kg and height at 41 cm. Breastfeeding and now 3.5 months old. ?
Needs more calories: You haven't mentioned how premature was your baby, but my guess he was born at 31-32 weeks gestation,at 1.67 kgs,now at age 7 months he is 3.5 kgs, doubled his birth weight, but still needs more, hope his other developmental milestones are fine.Usually premature babies catch up with normal growth after 2-3 months,I am afraid breastfeeding alone isn't enough,he needs more nutrition, see his doctor ...Read more

Prolactinoma ?Have 28yr old daughter post 10 yr birth control.6 mos no menses.Blood wk indicates prolactin @57 Other poss.causes?
Prolactin elevation: A prolactin of 57 is elevated, and can disrupt menstrual cycles, but does not necessarily mean a pituitary tumor. There are many other causes of mildly high prolactin, including many medications, nipple/chest wall stimulation and hypothyroidism. If it is a prolactinoma, it is likely a very small one. Best to see an Endocrinologist. ...Read more
16 yr girl, grew 1/2 inch in the last year, got period at 15, normal growth pattern(says doc) will she get taller?
Not much: The average girl will grow 2-3 inches after her first cycle. However, when the growth has slowed to a rate of 1/2 inch over a year it may indicate a real endpoint is coming soon. A single xray of the wrist/hand can be studied for growth center status. If open, more growth is possible, if closed, it's done. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

8M baby boy failing to thrive? Born 3.5Kg, drop to P10% at 2M; keep at P5-6%, now P20%. HC 40%. Height 50%. Av gain/month 550gr. All milestones met!
Mgt: The percentiles of normal growth may vary with age. If he is otherwise well and following his curve and meeting milestones, he probably is fine. I would recommend a variety of solids and introducing food types several times. Are his stools normal? Please check that his newborn CF screen is negative. ...Read more
24 yr male with 60 kg, 5.5" tall, high anti-TPO antibodies..And a slightly elevated tsh.. Normal t3and t4..Not gaining weight.. Shd i start thyroxine?
Hard call: Different endocrinologists will offer you different opinions. Staying trim like you are now is of course good. The question is whether your hashimoto's (which i suspect you have -- does your physician?) is slipping into hypothyroidism; only a minority do -- and if so, whether you want to take a bit of thyroxine perhaps as an experiment. Talk with yourdoctor & perhaps a 2nd opinion. Good luck. ...Read more
Tonsils OSA: She may have large tonsils causing some narrowing of the airway and thus snoring at hight. I am more concerned if she is overweight, because that can cause another level of obstruction. As she's breathing at night, check for "pauses" of her breathing, even count with a second hand on your watch. Any pause of more than 20 seconds is definitely not normal. Is there a " snap" as the airway opens? ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Baby boy head circum. at birth was 37 cm, at 4 mos.- 44.5.Had head u/s at that point.ALL NORMAL.Today at 7 mos. its 47.5 cm if not 48. Developing normally, a big boy - 9.5 kg,72 cm.Should I disregard the percentile charts? Can this increase be normal?
Head circumference. : As long as the head circumference is tracking along the same percentile and with normal developmental progress, all that is needed is close followup with your child's PCP. Based on the information you provided, the head circumference is on the upper end of normal (~98th percentile). A family history of individuals with large heads, if present, make the head circumference stats less concerning. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
