I woke up with 96.6 degree body temperature. What's the lowest it should be before I worry? I know 98.6 is the 'norm'.

Not to worry: It is normal for the body's temperature to drop overnight. Many of the metabolic functions go into a baseline mode, so less energy is needed and thus less heat produced. Understand also that an oral temperature is influenced by many factors and may not accurately reflect the core temperature. Don't worry too much about a low oral reading if you are feeling ok otherwise. ...Read more

Please talk with your parents about this, because it sounds like your grandma needs to see her physician for a comprehensive evaluation. Embarassing, but my urine is green for the last 2 days. I've not eaten anything with dye in it, or anything out of the norm. Help?

Difficult to say why: Different food reactions however alter the pH of urine without having to have eaten dye in food. The change of pH would render a substance more soluble in urine and that may change the color. Remember in science class the litmus paper changes color with change of ph. If lots of veg, dairy, or tea pH goes up. Lots of meat, pops, limeade, would decrease pH (acid). Change the diet and color prob will. ...Read more

I find it unusual and somewhat troubling that my pcp doesn't physically examine me on the rare occasion I go in...Is this the "new norm?

Unfortunately: The majority of physicians in practice at this time do not spend adequate time communicating and doing physical exam on patients. Several reasons. Physicians are not being reimbursed as much from insurance companies for their services and have to see more patients to make their living. It is faster to order blood tests and imaging studies. These are not always indicated. Thorough physical exam helps. ...Read more
