Hi there- I need to take 'Ellaone' the morning after pill, but I also want to take norethisterone on Friday as I go on holiday. Can I do this?

YES.: Taking progesterone only to induce a period a few days after using the morning after pill shouldn't be harmful or reduce the effectiveness of either. Progesterone only pills can be used as a "morning after pill" but, since I don't know the strength of your norethisterone I can't instruct you on its use. Sounds like you may need to rethink the effectiveness of the contraception you normally use.

Not usually: The " morning after pill", if Progesterone only, may cause a withdrawal bleed which might bring on your cycle early and make you bleed a little longer. Does not usually harm you permanently. Some women are very sensitive to Progesterone and will get a bad headache from it. The side effects are only temporary. Reliable birth control is a good option!

Yes and no: You can have a procedure that interferes with a pregnancy that has started in the womb, which for many years was the only process using the abortion label. Today there are forms of birth control that prevent a fertilized egg from implanting and establishing a pregnancy. If you believe life begins at conception, this would also be considered an abortion.
