My anti hbs titer result non reactive. 8.8 cut off 10. What does it mean? I got my 3doses of vacc. On 2009. Do I have to take full course or booster?

Usually 3 doses: Patients are usually getting all 3 doses again, if the anti-hepbs antibody is low. A few patients choose to just get one booster shot. One's doctor can help decide. ...Read more

Treatment for syphilis in 2012. Titer went down to 1:1, f/u 6 months later was non-reactive. Latest f/u at 1 year was 1:1 again. No new exposure. Bad?

Treatment for syphilis in 2012. Titer went down to 1:1, f/u 6 months later was non-reactive. Latest f/u at 1 year was 1:1 again. No new exposure. Bad?

No: Rises in titer only count if they're 2-dilution rises. From non-reactive to 1:1 is a 1-dilution rise, and is not felt to be significant. A rise from non-reactive to 1:2 would be significant. However, if you were re-infected with syphilis, your titer would probably be much higher than 1:2. ...Read more

The length of time between my hepatitis b series was greater than when each were supposed to be taken (now need titer). Were all shots still effective?

The length of time between my hepatitis b series was greater than when each were supposed to be taken (now need titer). Were all shots still effective?

Probably effective: If one is doing a blood titer test, the result will decide if she is immune or not immune. The shot schedule in the past won't matter anymore. Everybody with close or frequent contact with a hep b carrier (especially healthcare workers) should have their titers tested. Some people who get the shots at exactly the recommended time can still have very low titers, and need additional booster shots. ...Read more

Hello, I went to my doctor today to receive my Hep B AB Titer results and it was negative, non-reactive. What exactly does this mean? Should I worry?

Hello, I went to my doctor today to receive my Hep B AB Titer results and it was negative, non-reactive. What exactly does this mean? Should I worry?

You are NOT immune: A non-reactive titre means that you are NOT immune to hepatitis B. That means if you came in contact with it you could get the disease. If you've had a vaccine series then it indicates that it didn't work. If you haven't had the vaccine series then I would get it. ...Read more

I had my 3series of vaccines for hep b last 2009 and now I had my anti hbs titer exam and it was non reactive. Do I have to take a full course of vac?

I had my 3series of vaccines for hep b last 2009 and now I had my anti hbs titer exam and it was non reactive. Do I have to take a full course of vac?

Probably Yes: Do not routinely test for vaccine response. Testing is considered for persons whose subsequent management depends on knowledge of their immune status, such as chronic hemodialysis patients, other immunocompromised persons and persons with HIV infection. Since didn't show response, d recommend another 3 dose series. Only about 5% of people do not show antibody response after getting 6 doses. ...Read more

Do I have to receive another vaccine for hep b? My anti hbs titer result was non reactive.

I would: Hep B is one of the hardiest viruses in nature. People have been accidently infected by needle stick cleaning out a drug house abandoned for more than 6 months. Failure to respond to prior vaccines could be related too the handling and storage of the vaccine before it was given. I would certainly want protection. ...Read more

What does it mean if it comes back on a blood test that the rubella titer was reactive?

What does it mean if it comes back on a blood test that the rubella titer was reactive?

That's good: I'm assuming this is for prenatal labs. You want to be "rubella immune". That means the vaccine worked. If you didn't react, you'd be susceptible to getting it and putting the fetus at risk. ...Read more

If titer for varicella is high, does that give immunity to shingles? Means no shingles shot necessary? Thanks

If titer for varicella is high, does that give immunity to shingles? Means no shingles shot necessary? Thanks

Correct: You do not need the shingles vaccine with a high varicella titer.
Shingles is the virus lying dormant and when really stressed and overall immunity low it can come out in clusters along nerve paths.

I only french kissed my Gf she has hep b but I got 3 shots long time ago and I checked my titer the result was antibody 66IU/ML am I at risk?

Not for Hep B: You are not at risk for Hep B. But Hep B is not the only infection transmitted through body fluids.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex. ...Read more

My gf has hbv we make out I got 3 shots when I was a baby my antibody titer it's says I'm immune 70mml should I test antigen.? And when after exposure

No risk, immune: This duplicates another question. You are immune to HBV, should not have any more testing, and need not worry about any exposures to your girlfriend or anyone else. ...Read more

I deep french kissed she is hbv + I got 3 shots when I was baby I did titer after the kiss it says im immune 66ui/ml antb I even got booster so scared?

No risk, no worry: Isn't this a repeat question? Pretty sure I already answered it. But: First, kissing rarely if ever transmits HBV. Second, even if it might do so, you are immune from your childhood vaccination. No vaccine booster was needed. There is no basis for being "so scared". Do your best to forget the whole thing and move on. ...Read more

After a possible nonbite exposure, I was given an ELISA rabies titer test: >4UI/ml (5-shot vaccination received 13 years ago).Is a booster recommended?

I think you are fine: From what I could learn from a brief look, Elisa rabies titers of > 0.5 IU/mL are considered protective. Also, having received 5 shots as part of your original vaccination series would seem more than adequate. Finally, it was a non-bite exposure. .. you're fine:) ...Read more
