Hard to say: If the rash is moving from a local to a general distribution it is unlikely a simple contact dermatitis like poison ivy. Generalized rashes can be secondary to an infection (virus or bacteria) a food reaction or bug bites. Without examining the rash it is hard to speculate on a cause or specific treatment. Different causes: There are different causes of this type of rash includung allergy to foods, medications, etc. Have a physician or dermatologist evaluate the rash if still present. In the meantime if you're uncomfortable you could take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for the itch but be aware that it can cause drowsiness. Many possibilities: Besides lyme, ticks can transmit many other infections including babesia, bartonella, ehrlichina, rickettsia and other types of borrelia. The tick testing negative for lyme does not rule out other infections. But your symptoms could be unrelated to the bite too! see a doc knowledgeable in tick-borne illness. Consider seeing a doc for general evaluation too, ideally a holistic doc. ...Read more

Needs re-evaluation: Not possible to diagnose without at least a picture, you need to see your doctor again who would refer you to a dermatologist. Please hold the steroid cream for now, it could be a fungal rash or something else, good luck ...Read more

Use steroid cream: It seems you have an acute case of contact dermatitis and may need to see your doctor asap as it is spreading meanwhile take over the counter Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to control the itching and use 1%hydrocortisone cream locally till you see your doctor you may need stronger steroid cream and/or oral or injecteble steroids. ...Read more
