Possibly: Only a visual inspection with cultures will reveal the true nature of what's going on but my money would be on an infectious entity with what you're saying. See your Family Doc: It sounds to me like you have several issues going on at same time. Post-nasal drip could be from allergies which could lead to ear discomfort b/c Eustachian tube dysfunction. Residual infection: The hard, leathery, often darkened skin @ the site of a boil is residual inflammation from the skin infection. The skin should soften over time, but cd leave a scar. I wd say at this point, it's normal. But watch for fevers, more drainage, or worsening symptoms that may mean the infection (boil) is coming back. Possibly infection: If the lesions end up with scabs it sounds more likely that these lumps are infection such as a boil or abscess.
