More accurate: There are other criteria for diagnosis of diabetes that do not require fasting: random glucose, post meal glucose, hba1c that looks at prior 3 mos of glucose. Realize that: Many things can cause symptoms of diabetes. Not sure exactly which symptoms you are referring, but the most classic are polyuria(urinating too much), nocturia(urinating in the middle of the night) and polydipsia(drinking too much water).
