Most deadly cancer?

Most deadly cancer?

Any of several: There are maybe 5000 known cancer types. All will inevitably kill if untreated. Of those that can be treated but not cured, glioblastoma of the brain is especially cruel and kills fast; small cell undifferentiated carcinoma kills about 30, 000 americans a year (basically all smokers) but chemotherapy can hold off the inevitable for a few months. Cures of common pancreatic cancer are rare. ...Read more

What would you say are most and least deadly types of cancer?

Debatable but...: Basal cell cancer of the skin and papillary cancer of the thyroid are relatively "benign" forms of cancer - an oxymoron, I know. Two cancers I wouldn't want are anaplastic cancer of the thyroid and glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer. 10 more doctors will give you 10 different answers. I'm wondering why are some cancer so deadly and others so easy to treat?

I'm wondering why are some cancer so deadly and others so easy to treat?

5000 variants: That's this pathologist's best estimate of the number of different genetic signatures that create that cancers that are out there. The ones with only a little destabilization of the genome at presentation are mostly easy to cure, though they'll kill you if left alone. The hugely destabilized ones, or that ones like cll that are widespread from the onset, are much harder to deal with. ...Read more

What is it like to tell someone a potentially life-threatening diagnosis like cancer?

It is not easy.: This is one of the hardest things a doctor has to do. There is no simple way to handle this, just learn by experience. Often the patient is not prepared, and does not want to think about this possibility. Sometimes they already suspect that this is the case. Whichever it is, noone knows how it feels until they do it themselves. ...Read more

Please explain why is prostate the most deadly cancer?

Please explain why is prostate the most deadly cancer?

Wrong: Prostate is not "the most deadly cancer". Actually, which cancer would be called "deadliest" is a matter of debate, depends on the circumstances. Prostate cancer is very common and is often found incidentally in elderly men who die of other circumstances, meaning it was not growing and did not cause death. There are aggressive ones, no doubt, but as a rule I would not call it "the deadliest". ...Read more

If you have cancer caused by smoking is it always deadly?

If you have cancer caused by smoking is it always deadly?

No: Many smoking-related cancers, if found early enough, can be surgically cured. Even when not cured, the addition of new chemotherapies and immunotherapies, sometimes with surgery to reduce the total cancer "burden", can greatly lengthen life and in some cases result in long-term remission of the cancer. Best answer is STOP SMOKING NOW. ...Read more

Is cancer that goes to the brain deadly?

Mostly: Usually metastases to the brain herald a poor prognosis but they should be treated nonetheless to avoid seizures and headaches. Do you think that all cancers will ever be curable, preventable or none life threatening?

Do you think that all cancers will ever be curable, preventable or none life threatening?

Hopefully one day: I can only speculate. We need to realize that "cancer" is really not one single disease. There are so many different types, and though they all arise from mutations in cells leading to abnormal growth and spread, they can behave very differently. I'm optimistic by nature and I believe that it may one day be possible to effectively treat or cure all types. If so, it's probably many years away. ...Read more

I have been diagnosed with bladder cancer and wondring what to expect is this a deadly thing

I: I hoe that you are recovering from your cystoscopy and biopsy well. There are many types and stages of bladder cancer and the many are completely curable. You need to discuss what type of bladder cancer you have and what stage it is at with your urologist to get an accurate answer to your question. You should also ask him/her what surgery or procedures need to be done and if there is any need for other treatments like bcg, a kind of immune system therapy in the bladder, chemotherapy in the bladder or iv, or radiation. I wish you the best. ...Read more

Unfortunately, triple negative- we don't know enough-many subtypes-no targeted tx. Yet. This is more aggressive+/- deadly. ...Read more
