Nodules On Lungs And Thyroid
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
Prominent vessels in lobe of thyroid, nodule on other lobe, hypothyroid, inconclusive fna of nodule?
Have thyroid goiter and inflammation. No nodules. Feel lump in throat. On Synthroid (thyroxine) 75mcg for hashimotos. Can you have thyroid cancer with no nodules?
CT abnormalities: You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Nodules on the lungs need to be biopsied. You may have a metastatic tumor in your lungs. Have your physician arrange for a ct-guided biopsy of one of them so tissue can be sent to a pathologist to see what they are. You may also need as well a ct of your kidneys as soon as possible to see if they are responsible for your lung nodules. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Do solid benign thyroid nodules grow quickly? And could you have normal TSH levels with a solid benign nodule on the thyroid?
Nodules: Growth of thyroid nodules may represent malignancy. The only way to really know is to perform fna biopsy. Many patients with solid thyroid nodules will have normal tsh. Thyroid scans are generally no longer thought to be useful in distinguishing between benign and malignant nodules. Rai thyroid scans should be ordered in patients with suspected hyperthyroidism, not routinely for all patients. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Thoughts on 1.4 cm isoechoic thyroid nodule with peripheral calcification and moderate blood flow. Also round lymph node on other side of neck?
Consult Endocrinedoc: An Endocrinologist is the best doctor to guide you in this matter. This thyroid nodule needs close follow up and will likely require a FNAC(needle biopsy) to confirm the diagnosis. But you have sometime to find the right doctor. Such nodules are slow to change, so a follow up evaluation in 6 mo may be another alternative which I am sure your present doctor would have offered as one of your choices ...Read more
Sono showed dominant nodule is a heterogeneous nodule. Evidence of hypoechoic on left and right lobes. Multinodular goiter with all nodules over 1cm. Can this be thyroid cancer.
I have multinodular goiter with two nodules measuring 10 mm and 11 mm on each lobe, then there are scattered ones throughout my thyroid. Biopsy?
Depends: The decision to biopsy is made between you and your treating physician. It depends on your level of comfort, what it looks like on ultrasound and whether or not it had changed from previous ultrasounds. Your choice right now is to undergo biopsy or do another ultrasound in 1 year and biopsy only if changes are seen. Both choices are reasonable. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can medullary thyroid carcinoma metastase to the lungs while being undetectable on a thyroid sonogram? Or by that time throyd nod are present?
Theoretically yes: But unlikely. Theoretically all you need is a tiny group of cancer cells at the microscopic level to have the capability to metastasize. However in practice there is almost always a detectable nodule before it metastasizes because the cancer needs to be more advance and aggressive. ...Read more

Would lung cancer cause enlarged hilar and mediasternal nodes, GGO on Chest CT and impaired gas exchange. Other lung function tests are normal?
Possibly: There are many different forms of lung cancer however the most common types usually appear as a solitary nodule or mass on CT. GGO can be seen with lymphatic involvement as is suggested by the enlarged lymph nodes described. This can be from infection, cancer or autoimmune diseases such as sarcoidosis and even heart failure. A biopsy of an enlarged lymph node may be required. ...Read more

See your doctor: Nodules in the lung a very common, almost always benign, but depending on your age, family history, smoking history, and the appearance of the nodules, there are varying means of proving they are benign. Hello I have been diagnosed with a small module on my left lower lung. A low density lesion on my liver and a 6mm nodule on my right thyroid lobe. ?
See below: Such multiple findings as you describe are not uncommon on various imaging studies such as CT scans of the chest, abdomen, pelvis that include the thyroid, lung, liver, and kidneys where small sub-centimeter (<10 mm) nodules are commonly noted which are most often benign and clinically insignificant but which often deserve a follow-up study in 6-12 months.
