Nodules On Lungs And Thyroid
Hi I am a 26 year old female. I'm slowly finding out over time I have nodules on my lungs, thyroid and now vocal cord. Why is this? I'm very concerned
Me too: This isn't normal. The only way to know for sure is to have biopsy of one of the nodules to find out the nature of the nodules. ...Read more
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

Bilateral lung nodules, Atelectasis prior papilloma thyroid CA. Pituitary Adenoma, Chiari Malformation, FMD, enlarged common bile duct no stones. Genetic?
Maybe genetic: Probably should have genetic consult. Forinstance Chiari malformation, fibromuscular dysplasia, and thyroid cancer can be associated with neurofibromatosis. Lung nodules are non specific and can be from some infections but also metastatic disease sometimes from papillary thyroid cancer. You may want to consult a geneticist physician. ...Read more
Have nodules 1.1 CM in upper right lung and 2 nodules 1.4 CM and 8mm in left thyroid all non calcified. What do I do?
See your doctor: Nodules in the lung a very common, almost always benign, but depending on your age, family history, smoking history, and the appearance of the nodules, there are varying means of proving they are benign. These include everything from doing nothing, to surgery to remove a nodule. I suggest neither of these extremes in your case, but do suggest you see a doctor who sees a lot of nodules. ...Read more
Hello I have been diagnosed with a small module on my left lower lung. A low density lesion on my liver and a 6mm nodule on my right thyroid lobe.?
See below: Such multiple findings as you describe are not uncommon on various imaging studies such as CT scans of the chest, abdomen, pelvis that include the thyroid, lung, liver, and kidneys where small sub-centimeter (<10 mm) nodules are commonly noted which are most often benign and clinically insignificant but which often deserve a follow-up study in 6-12 months. You should discuss this with your doctor. ...Read more

Post hyster for endo cancer - all mediastinal nodes enlarged, w/bilateral hilar & virchows node. No sarcoid/lung issue, have thyroid nodules. Ideas?
I have nodules on my lungs, with the largest one being 4mm I also have one on my thyroid and voice box. The lung nodules were found incidentally during a CT of my bowels. Could this be sarcoidosis?
Possibly: It's not unusual for there to be small nodules in the lung as you age. There are a lot of things from benign granulomas to lung cancer that are possible. Sarcoidosis in the lung is squally symptomatic. You will need to have few serial ct scans to mae sure they don't change in any way. Good luck. ...Read more

Hx severe asthma. Multiple lung nodules/densities found, all < 5mm and throughout lungs. Two 1cm thyroid nodules found one dense calcification, one intermediate attenuation. Only CT. Wondering if primary thyroid CA with lung mets. Weeks 2 see dr?
Yes, see doctor: It is difficult to say on this evidence if the lung lesions are benign. They may be. The only way to know for sure is abiopsy. I would strongly recommend seeing an endocrinologist. ...Read more
What does it indicate if a thyroid ultrasound showed nodules on my lungs? Symptoms include crackling sounds when I lay down?
Confusion????: A thyroid ultrasound doesn't show anything on the lungs. Only a chest xray or ct scan shows the lungs. Crackling sounds may come from your throat, or lungs like seen on asthmatics, pneumonia also shows crackling but youusually have fevers and feel really bad and short of breath. ...Read more

I have 3 nodules on thyroid getting biopsy next week. Currently feeling sandy gritty feeling in throat and chest. What's the cause of that?
You are nervous: About your procedure. Follow the advise of your doctors, FNS or fine needle aspiration is done as simple out patient procedure, needle aspirants then will be analyzed for cancer cells. If you have 3 nodules most likely is a benign multi nodular goiter, and wait for the good report, then your symptoms will disappear ...Read more
Shortness of breath and tightness in the chest. Also neck swelling on the left side but no lumps or nodules. Is it cancer?
Asthma: You will need a proper evaluation by your doctor including a chest xray & tests for asthma. Good luck. ...Read more

Throid nodules. Upper right lobe hot, lower right lobe cold 3.4cm. Does that mean I have hyper and hypo thyriodism at the same time?
No, the activity: Of individual nodules on a thyroid scan may not, in and of themselves, imply hyper or hypothyroidism, which are diagnoses based on systemic symptoms and blood levels. Certainly, however, an autonomous hot nodule could result in hyperthyroidism. Cold nodules have a higher chance of malignancy (although still relatively low), and biopsy may be indicated. ...Read more
Thyroid u/s reviled “solitary right of midline, 9mm complex cystic nonvascular ismuth nodule”. Should I be worried / biopsy?
Possibly: The ultrasound should be followed up with an appointment with an ear, nose and throat surgeon to discuss biopsy vs an additional nuclear medicine test that can give more information about the nodule. There should also be some lab tests done to measure thyroid hormones. All of that information will be used in making the best decision for you. ...Read more
U/s thyroid shows homogeneous parenchyma on left and right no mass or nodule what does this mean? So what is homogeneous parenchyma?
Good!: Homogeneous parenchyma is just a fancy way for the person reading the report to say the thyroid appears to be similar in texture and color throughout the entire thyroid. This is a good thing as it implies a uniform thyroid without areas of irregularity or inflammation and most people reading these reports will tend to err on the side of caution & at least say there is some irregularity. Good Luck! ...Read more
3x1x2mm hypoechoic nodule on thyroid u/s. Report said most likely a complex cyst. Dr said I don't need a f/u u/s unless he feels something. True?
I had a 6m repeat thyroid u/s due to a nodule. First was 5.3mmx4.9x3.3 now it's 6.5mm x5.5x3.3. hypoechoic in ll pole. Worrisome? Can it be biopsied?
I have 5 "nodules" in my thyroid, 2 of which have grown their own vascular rims. How serious is this? I have 5 "nodules" "goiters" or whatever word d'jour pops up. Two of these growths have grown their own vascular rim, and no one is doing anything. I
Multinodular goiter: Multi nodular goiter (mng) is likely what you are describing. This condition often times does not cause thyroid hormone problems but if it does, then the term functional or toxic mng is applied. In either scenario, the options including just monitoring nodular size by us versus thyroid removal, either surgically or via radioactive iodine. Seldom that use of thyroid hormone therapy will be helpful. ...Read more
Thyroid u/s showed nodule in isthmus: 9x3x7mm, slightly hypoechoic, markedly vascular. At biopsy, neither dr could locate it. Should I be worried?
Went in for followup u/s for left thyroid nodule. Came back as nothing on left but new nodule on right. Worried they got the sides mixed up. Possible?
Not likely: Ultrasound exams are performed by trained technicians and supervised by physicians on site, so a mix up is unlikely. It is, however, common for many people to have multinodular goiter, meaning many cysts on both sides of the gland. These are usually benign & require no further evaluation. If concerned, a needle biopsy can be performed. ...Read more

I had u/s on thyroid and it found 2 nodules. Both on left - 1 at interpolar region and 1 at lower left pole. Where are these locations? Close together?
Who did the diagnosis, you and confirmed by a DR.?
You require a Thyroid scan with 1131, and a fine needle aspiration biopsy.
About 1/10 % of nodules may became cancerous, therefore an endocrinologist should see you. Medicine is advancing by leaps and bounds but it can still be difficult to determine if a thyroid nodule is cancerous or not. Now, people with thyroid nodules can benefit from the latest diagnostic technology.
