Doctor insights on: Nodule on heart
Palpitations: You are having palpitations, which can be caused by many things, including thyroid issues, anxiety, arrhythmias, caffeine, hypoglycemia, among many other things. You need to be evaluated both with blood tests and possibly with a 24 hour monitor called a holter monitor to see what the heart is doing during these episodes from an electrical standpoint. ...Read more
Dx lung nodules now have chest pain (heart checked out ok). Pain gets more severe w deep breaths or cough, ideas? Could this be serious? Easily winded
Pleurisy: It sounds to me like you have pleuritic pain. Any irritation to the pleura- which is the lining outside the lung would cause such kind of pain. That could be caused by different things including inflammation, infection (viral/bacterial), autoimmune disease, etc. With the lung nodules and now with pleuritic pain- definitely I would advise you to go back to see your pmd- for further eval ...Read more

Why does my heart race after eating gluten. My thyroid is enlarged with 2 small nodules. What's causing this and can it be cured?
Check thyroid: Celiac disease, or gluten enteropathy, generally involves GI symptoms, sometimes bone problems and other symptoms, but your symptoms of palpitations by themselves do not sound like a gluten problem. Are you hyperthyroid? Perhaps you have hashimotos thyroiditis or graves disease. You may want to see an endocrinologist. ...Read more
My doctor reduced my euthyrox 100 to 50 since that time I feel tired and I have fast heart beats, he said I have under active thyroid with nodules?
Underactive thyroid: It should be easy to check whether you're getting enough thyroid hormone. Have your doctor (if s/he hasn't already) order a TSH test. If the TSH test is high, you need more thyroid hormone. The nodules usually do not have any effect on thyroid hormone levels (with the single exception of a toxic nodule, which makes your thyroid overactive). ...Read more
Chest pain for weeks following infection. All tests normal except some nodules <7mm. Did chest CT look at heart already, or need a separate test?
Is included in the chest CT but the only information of any use is CORONARY CALCIFICATIONS (VERY UNLIKELY at your age!) The chest pain remains unexpla1ned and probably NOT related to your infection EXCEPT. ..COUGHING. And pulling some INTERCOSTAL muscles...very common in upper respiratory viral infections...this would not "show" on CT scans! Hope this helps!

Hyperthyroidism can: And does tweak metabolic rates, which can be unsettling, psychologically, and stimulating, physiologically. Either can trigger a panic reaction, because anxiety in general, is designed to mobilize our resources in response to something we cannot manage or control. First, neutralize the effects of the thyroid, and then see a therapist for background psychology stuff. ...Read more
