What medications can you take for severe migraine that do not have caffeine? I am sensitive to it.
The chemical structure of caffeine resembles that of a common asthma medication, how, and what does this mean?
Not much: The asthma medications that coffee mimic fell out of favor decades ago when modern treatments became available. In order to get an equivalent benefit to the old aminophylline products ( the chemical cousins) you would need to take so much that the side effects of hyper alertness, jitters, etc. would be prohibitive. For the most part it is just doesn't worsen asthma. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Stimulants: Since both are stimulants (and similar in their effects and side effects), their side effect profiles can be additive. Thus, combining them could leave you feeling shaky, insomnia, increased heart rate and blood pressure. If you have less than 100 mg of caffeine, you probably won't notice much effect, but get higher than that in combination with the vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) and you could feel these effects. ...Read more
Is it ok to drink diet coke (i have psvt)? I am on medication for it so that makes caffeine ok, right?
Is caffeine better than taking medications or supplements which boosts focusing and memory like doxiderol or cerebral success?
Interesting question: Of course both companies selling these products would say no. Yet, caffeine is strongly in both. Why include it? All the individual herbs and nutritional components have some studies of cognitive effect, but none is curative of any condition. There are also no studies of the whole products as sold. So for me, advertising themselves as suitable substitutes for stimulants is fishy. For you? ...Read more

Can add to anxiety: Caffeine doesn't alter the antidepressant effect of Elavil (amitriptyline), but it can cause or worsen anxiety. So in that sense it could counteract the effect of the medication. I hear there is a new medication called fioricet (acetaminophen butalbital and caffeine) which has codeine, can you tell me more about it?
An addicting med.: An addicting pain medicine for headaches. I would recommend you don't use it. I would do my best to understand the cause of your headaches. May just need new glasses, control your blood pressure, address the stress of life/job/responsibilities rather than complicate with an addicting medication. It would be my last resort, if ever at all. Go to a headache specialist, or interventional pain doc. ...Read more
