Symptoms and an enlarged, hard, unresolving lymph node needs prompt evaluation to ensure it is not a cancer (lymphoma). It likely will need to be excised and taken to the lab for cell analysis. You also will likely need blood testing.

I have 1cm lymph node behind ear. Movable painless. Been there 3 months. Don't think its grown. If it was lymphoma would it have grown by now? How big?
Biopsy.: An enlarged lymph node can be normal, or it can be a due to cancer. Lymph nodes that enlarge due to an infection (normal) are usually sore. A 1cm lymph node is just on the edge of being too big. The only way to know if it's normal is to ultrasound and/or biopsy it. Lymphomas cause rubbery lymph nodes that often grow, but not always. The lymph node behind your ear is associated with your scalp. ...Read more

Location issue: If you are talking about right behind ear, there usually aren't major lymph node chains hanging out unless it is more in the neck region. You can try warm compress as if this is a blocked follicle, may help. ...Read more
Could a lymph node behind ear be cancerous it feels hard when touched, I haven't got infection am feeling fine other than I have high prolactin levels?
It depends....: Enlarged nodes can be cancerous especially if they are painless and hard to feel. But a lot depends on the size of the lymph node. If it is more than 1cm (half inch) and it increases in size over the next month or two then you need to get a medical exam to make sure it is not cancerous. A biopsy of the node is the best way to find out what is causing it to enlarge. ...Read more

I have had a swollen lymph node behind ear and cough for 4 weeks. Not bigger. I did have eczema on scalp but now better, should I worry?
No, watch & wait:
Check the node every couple of weeks. If it doubles in size, other nodes become enlarged, the node becomes warm and painful, or if you lose weight, then see a doctor. It may take a few months for the node to shrink even after the eczema has cleared.

I have an enlarged lymph node behind ear that the doctor wants to biopsy. Incidentally, my TSH is also mildly elevated (5.01). Could this be related?
Enlarged node: It is accepted practice to biopsy an enlarged lymph node that was recently noted and hasn't receded after an observation period of a couple of weeks or more. Mild elevation of the tsh would raise the suspicion of hypothyroidism but I doubt any relationship to an enlarged lymph node behind the ear. Other thyroid parameters can be done to look for an underactive thyroid gland. ...Read more
