If your doctor gave you Progesterone because you haven't had a period in a few months, then I will tell patients to expect a "humdinger" that can last up to 2 weeks---after 10 days, I ask them to call me and may start birth control or other medication to get period to stop.
Try not to go more than 3 months without a period (unless you are on the pill etc--then ok!). ...Read more

How effective is medroxyprogesterone @ regulating periods? Does it usually take more than 1, 10day Rx? Any wait time after med to try and conceive?
Period regulation: Medroxyprogesterone is (like progesterone) going to mimic the second half of your cycle, and when stopped (after ten days) you will have an artificial "period". If your periods are not always following ovulation, they will remain irregular, despite medroxyprogesterone. You can attempt pregnancy, but without ovulation conception will be impossible. Ask your provider about induction of ovulation. ...Read more

If by this time you have not had any spotting or bleeding, you should get further advice from your doctor ...Read more

I was prescribed provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 7 days. After my provera (medroxyprogesterone) period am I going to ovulate?
Took Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days, period 10 days so far very heavy and lots of clots and pain. When will it stop?
Unnatural cycle...: Induced by Provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal can be unpredictable. If a perimenopausal patient goes many months between periods, the lining could have been very thick over that time and the period longer and heavier. Also around menopause, the estrogens needed to rebuild a new lining to seal off the old can be reduced. If you are concerned and the bleeding is not slacking off, see your GYN. ...Read more
I have been given provera (medroxyprogesterone) 5mg for 10days and want to know how long do it take for ur period to come on after taking it?
10 days..: Is typically the length of the provera (medroxyprogesterone) challenge when we are ruling out causes of secondary amenorrhea (loss of your period). If bleeding doesn't happen by then, then you can add estrogen for 35 days to see if that will produce bleeding. If not, you may need further testing like a hysteroscopy where they look inside the uterus and examine the lining and look for scarring. ...Read more
Does provera (medroxyprogesterone) make ur periods regular? Once starting provera (medroxyprogesterone) is it normal to have two periods close together?
I was put on provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10mg/10 days to have a period and it didn't help. Its been over a week since my last pill. Why could this be?
Often not enough: That is a very standard regimen of Progesterone but it will not work on everyone. Schedule a follow up to go over the options. Most should have a pregnancy test, thyroid and prolactin tests done. Many patients with pcos will not cycle with this dose. Some need a higher dose and others will need to try birth control pills with estrogen and Progesterone to have a cycle. ...Read more

I av bn placed on deviry tabs for 3 mnths. My gyn said to take from 5th day of period for 21days. This is 3rd mnth & 21days afta deviry no period.?
Talk to Gyn..:
Typically, Provera (medroxyprogesterone) tabs are taken for 10 or 14 days, to initiate a withdrawal bleed. The main reasons for no withdrawal bleed is not enough estrogen (at least 40), blocked exit, or pregnancy. A positive response is any bleeding more than light spotting that occurs within 2 weeks after the progestin is given. This bleeding will usually occur 2-7 days after the progestin is finished.
