I am having ovulation pain but no cervical mucus the week I am supposed to be fertile, is this normal?

Every month I have ovulation pain on the right side. I have never felt this on the left. Is it normal?
Should i be concerned if ovulation pain becomes really painful ? And it tends to be on the right side, what could cause ovulation pain to be painful?
