When i put my shoe on i get a sharp burning feeling on the top of my foot and shoots in my ankle?

Nerve impingement : There could be many reasons for burning pain, but most relate to nerves in your foot. One possible reason is impingement by the specific shoe. I treated a long distance runner with possibly same symptoms as you. Try using vaseline on your skin at the location and vaseline on your sock. This will allow gliding. If that doesn't help, see a foot doctor. Hope this helps, please vote for me. ...Read more

The top of my foot has a knot and the toe next to the big toe is right against the big toe and my toes turn a purple color and have tingling feeling?

Multiple problems: The knot may be several things like a spur or a cyst. It may be the likely cause of the numbness and tingling as it is pressing on a nerve. The fact that your first and second toes are crossing or touching indicates a hammertoe and/or bunion deformity. You should see a podiatrist. ...Read more

I got stung 8 hours ago on the top of my foot and I feel a burning pain. Advil (ibuprofen) did not help. Should I be feeling pain 8 hours later? Iced it all day.

I got stung 8 hours ago on the top of my foot and I feel a burning pain. Advil (ibuprofen) did not help. Should I be feeling pain 8 hours later? Iced it all day.

Stinger has to be: removed as the venom is in your system. If this is your first exposure, know that reexposure in the future can and will make you hypersensitized to the type of bee/nornet/insect that stung you. Advil (ibuprofen) probably will not be enough. You want to have your PCP look at it as you will may need to be on stronger antihistamines, and also possibly have an Epi Pen ordered. You want to have this documented. ...Read more

Shock feeling on foot, when I touch a vein at top of foot, I feel the shock further down my foot towards big toe. ?

Shock feeling on foot, when I touch a vein at top of foot, I feel the shock further down my foot towards big toe. ?

Shocking.: Sounds like a neuralgia type problem. The nerve on the top of the foot has been damaged or irritated and is sending impulses down the nerve route when stimulated. You need to consider just what may have irritated the nerve. Could be something as simple as an ill-fitting shoe. If the condition does not improve, a visit to the doctor may be helpful. Heat/cold and topical patches can be helpful. ...Read more

A while back my foot felt wet like I was standing in a wet spot but there was nothing there. What could cause that feeling?

Sensation: Curious complaint. I see you are on Mefformin. Are you diabetic? If so, that would explain your peripheral nerve symptom. I do not know the situation. For example, if you were in your bare feet it could have been a difference between the temperature of the surface under your one foot versus the other. Your mind interpreted it as "wet". ...Read more

There : There are several different possibilities for this:
1. If you are having pain when you walk, it could be a morton's neuroma (this is a benign-noncancerous condition). It is basically a nerve ending that gets too big. It does not hurt if you push on it and is treated with steroid injection.
2. If it hurts when you walk, it could be plantar fasciitis also. This is usually more of the whole bottom of the foot that hurts.
3. It could be a neurologic issue; your nerves are sending messages for some reason that are abnormal.
You should have a medical evaluation by a family practitioner or internist to get their opinion. ...Read more

I sometimes have a buzzing / electric feeling in my foot which is continual and can last for a long time. Is that from nerves? What can I do about it?

Parasthesia: Medically speaking, we call any nerve sensation a parasthesia. It can be your nerve that innervates your foot that may be irritated for some reason. It can be diagnosed more definitively with a test called emg. I would suggest doing more exercise and maybe taking some minerals such as magnesium and calcium, a multi vitamin may help as well. If it continues to be a problem, see a neurologist. ...Read more

I recently started working at a carwash so my feet are constantly wet. I have a burning feeling in the ball of my foot. Is it from the water exposure?

Burning feet: It could be from prolonged water exposure. If your shoes are consistently wet and you are wearing no or wet socks, you may be causing some shearing forces (think about 2 sheets of paper rubbing over each other) this can cause a burning sensation and blisters! bring an extra pair of dry socks and shoes, in addition to some water shoes to see if this helps. If it gets worse see a podiatrist. ...Read more

I have SLE and I had an electric like feeling that was so bad at my foot, this happened only once, what could it be ?

Several ideas: Related to SLE could be vasculitis which occurs n SLE with a sudden damage to a nerve in the foot. If this were true some residual numbness or weakness should be seen. The other possibility is an entrapment neuropathy in the foot where some ligaments and tendons compress a nerve similar to the "crazy bone" in the elbow {ulnar}. If so it`s unrelated to the SLE. If it recurs see your doc ...Read more
