Is no carb all protein diet beneficial?

DANGEROUS, however:: A no carb diet would consist only of meat ; eggs; i don't know anyone who recommends this. It would result in many nutritional deficiencies, completely lacking vitamin c, fiber, flavonoids ; other phytonutrients essential for good health. There is lots of research showing benefits of a vegetarian diet but none on the benefits of no carb diet. However, many recommend a low carb diet. See comment:. ...Read more

Are there health benefits of a vegetarian diet ?

Are there health benefits of a vegetarian diet ?

Yes, but...: There are advantages to eating a diet that minimizes unhealthy saturated fats, but a vegetarian diet does not limit processed goods that contain white sugar and flour and the diet also allows frying of food and trans-fats. What health benefits are associated with a vegetarian diet ?

Good to know: The big studies have not shown increased longevity or much protection from any of the common cancers or vascular diseases just from vegetarianism / veganism. These people do tend to have other healthy habits. I admire the moral statement against the cruelty of factory farming. If you do not supplement (b12, several others) you will ruin your health -- your physician can guide you. ...Read more

Mostly positive: Fats are essential for health, but you need to consume the right kinds. Stay away from hydrogenated oils and vegetable oils. Look into olive oil, coconut oil, and cold water fish. Benefits and dangers of low carb high fat ketogenic diets?

Benefits and dangers of low carb high fat ketogenic diets?

Extremes: I believe it is better for most to eat nearly everything in moderation instead of going on an extreme diet. I don't see how getting ketosis, which may reduce your appetite, can be good for the body. As for the high fat, too much saturated fat is likely harmful because it promotes inflammation. If you must, try unsaturated fat. ...Read more

Does sugar have any health benefits?

Does sugar have any health benefits?

Sure: Sugar is a source of energy. Too much sugar or energy gets stored for a later time as fat. It doesn't have to be broke pen down so it is available immediately for use, so any extra is put right to fat. Sugar is not necessarily bad just getting to much to quickly is bad. We do better if our bodies have to work some to break compounds down to use them, instead of storing the energy right as fat. ...Read more

Vegans who do not know EXACTLY what they are doing and supplement as they need to end up with brain damage, anemia, and painful bones. I'm a female 19 5'5 and weigh 110lbs. To maintain weight with no/little excercise what diet works. Moderate diet, zone diet, low fat/carb diet ? Help!

Diet: Diet is a key in weight control but when you are so close to ideal body weight you need some exercise to maintain metabolic rate and muscle mass. Otherwise your body will simply slow metabolic rate and you will not feel or perform well and may not lose weight. More lean muscle burns more calories and makes it easier to keep weight off. If you don't build muscle you may add fat when gaining. ...Read more

Is taking high protein140g/day low carb <150g diet safe?140pd male doing strenuous workouts for health&vanity.

Unsafe, unwise: I believe most extreme diets are unhealthy and unwise and this is a good example. I advise limiting protein to about 70 grams a day. Higher amounts puts stress on the kidneys, can cause osteoporosis and may reduce longevity- esp. if the main source is animal protein. I believe it's not wise to limit all carbs- but it is wise to limit sugars and starches. See http://tinyurl.com/hqxta7c and comment. ...Read more
