No Bowel Movement For Months
Constipation: Check your water intake and fiber intake. Your intestines depend on water and soluble fiber - most readily available for is in fruits and vegetables as well as several dietary fiber supplements. But is you have not had a bowel movement in 2 weeks i would suggest a trip to see your provider in person. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The gastrointestinal tract starts at the mouth, travel down the tunnel (esophagus), which connects to the stomach, which then empties into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum---the three parts of the small intestine (@25 feet). This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more
Normal colonoscopy 6 days ago. No bowel movement yet. Constipation not unusual for me. Any need for concern?
No: Lack of a bowel movement 6 days after colonoscopy in a patient who often gets constipation isn't too unusual. I would suggest the usual measures to promote a normal bowel movement. See my Checklist "Treating Constipation" and go to: http://bit.ly/1uzOegm Increase water intake, fiber supplement, dried fruit like prunes or apricots, more physical activity. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Sugar or fat?: I would consider a sugar intolerance and or a fat intolerance. I suggest you see a gastrointestinal doctor who can run tests to see why the diarrhea is occurring. The diarrhea is more of a concern for me than the immediate bowel movement, since there is a reflex that makes you go to the bathroom after you eat called the gastro colic reflex. ...Read more

Everyone?: We're taught to avoid absolute & all-inclusive questions/answers b/c everyone's different (that's pretty absolute & all-inclusive!). Assuming you eat enough fiber, drink enough fluids & get enough exercise (may only apply to small percentage of population) & allow enough time, bowel movement should empty most of rectum. But if you pinch one off b/c in rush, then might leave some behind 'til next ...Read more
So what is treatment for bowel movement and urine becouse my brother had spinal cord injury for three weeks ago but still no bowel movement ?
Neurogenic bowel: He needs to be treated urgently for this. After he is disimpacted a maintenance bowel program often using stool softeners, laxatives, and digital stimulation will be required. It appears that he will also need a bladder catheterization program. Take him to a physiatrist who specializes in spinal cord injuries as soon as possible. What level was the injury? Does your brother have quadriplegia? ...Read more
For a month now have had diarrhea, no painful bowel movements but feels the pressure of them. Loud constant noises from bowels. No bleeding.
Diarrhea: Possibilities include intestinal infection, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulosis, gluten intolerance or lactose intolerance.Overactive thyroid is less likely. If you can't determine whether dietary causes are triggering the diarrhea, consult a gastroenterologist who will evaluate you and order the appropriate tests in order to diagnose and treat you. ...Read more
Do changing bowel movements (formed stool/diarrhea) occur for a few days after colonoscopy. Had a colonoscopy two days ago and now had one full formed bowel movement then one of diarrhea. Before procedure I had difficult BM or constipation ?
For past 5 months had abdominal pain(improved after bowel movement), mucus in stool, loose stools. Physician refused referral thinking is hypochondria?
Maybe IBS?: If the symptoms have been long term, they may be representative of irritable bowel syndrome. However, other problems must be ruled out before that diagnosis can be determined. If you have not already, I would increase the amount of fiber in your diet. If this does not help, I would return to your doctor, to see what the next step in the work up is. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have been experiencing a normal bowel movement that becomes loose stools and then diarrhea in one sitting for 5 months. Not celiac ?
Ibs: irritable bowel syndrome is a possibility. Also tests for celiac disease may be negative, but you could still be gluten intolerant rather than gluten sensitive. GO on a gluten free diet to see if symptoms improve. If it's irritable bowel syndrome try to determine triggering foods. If necessary your MD can prescribe an antispasmodic like bentyl (dicyclomine) 1/2 hour before a meal. See a gastroenterologist as nee ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Stomach pains and not had bowel movement for a few weeks los I have no feeling as if i need a bowel movement apart from the pain?
Obstipation?: Normal bowel frequency varies from 1 every 3-4 days to 3-4 movements per day. Many "normal" people alternate their stool pattern within this range. What you describe is outside the range, but your prior baseline stool pattern defines how alarming (or not)your current infrequency may be. Ileus, blockage, ischemia is considered if fever, tenderness, distension, bleeding, vomiting. Get checked/help. ...Read more
Nausea after bowel movement and occasional bleeding but i think that may be a ruptured pile.Waiting on colonoscopy for past 5 months.Very loose stools?
See a GI doctor: Can't imagine why it takes 5 months for a colonscopy if you are symptomatic with diarrhea and blood in the stool. You must discuss this with the doctor and if they will not schedule you sooner, seek another opinion. Do not assume the blood is from hemorrhoids. If it is, great. If not you need to clearly determine the source. Hemorrhoids will not explain your other symptoms. Get seen and get well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
May be impacted: You may have a stool impaction. This is a large collection of stool that has hardened to the point abdominal it's very hard to clear. You get stomach cramps as gas and fluid backs up around and stretching the colon. You should see your doctor about this. He may have to arrange for disimpaction. Or a G.I. Evaluation and colonoscopy. Good health. ...Read more
