No: Antibiotics don't cause gastritis although some are harder on stomach than others. Erythromycin & clindamycin are known to be especially harsh on gut, former w/nausea & vomiting while latter w/diarrhea (although all are known to cause C diff diarrhea).There's no specific dose of Nexium (esomeprazole) or any other proton pump inhibitor to treat side effects. ...Read more

Duration&dosage of treatment of nonerosive reflux esophagitis? Have taken protonix 2x20MG for a month, still feeling acid, want to switch to Nexium (esomeprazole).

May be warranted.: If you were diagnosed with nonerosive esophagitis and protonix does not seem to be taking care of the symptoms after taking it regularly for a month, it may be appropriate to switch to a different PPI such as Nexium (esomeprazole). That would be: Ok just take it on an empty stomach 1 hour before a meal. If you already ate, i would just skip it till the next dose. ...Read more

I am on nexium (esomeprazole) 40mg a day. I would like to have a few beers on Christmas Day. Should I skip the dose that day ? Or continue taking it ?

Nexium (esomeprazole): Alcohol can always worsen gastritis, GERD (heat-burn), or peptic ulcer disease. Beers tend to be less abrasive to the stomach lining than liquors. I'm currently on a daily dose of 20mg of nexium (esomeprazole). I am 4 weeks pregnant are these meds safe to take? I tried not taking it i was in pain after 2 days.

Nexium (esomeprazole) preganancy: I would recommend you switch to otc liquid antacid like maalox or tums (calcium carbonate). Avoid as much prescription medications during pregnancy unless it is necessary and prescribed by your doctor. ...Read more
