How long?: If these have been present for months or years, you likely have an allergic condition. If they have been present for less than a week, it is likely from a cold. See below: You have a cold. I recommend an over the counter decongestant either phenylephrine nose drops or spray or pseudephedrine tablets (the ones locked up behind the counter). Use them for only 3-4 days to avoid rebound phenomenon. You could also take tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain relief and throat lozenges if sore throat. Take Robitussin-DM for cough. Keep yourself well hydrated and you should get better soon. ...Read more

Depends: It depends on the cause for the post-nasal drips. If the nasal drips is not linked to nasal stuffiness, sneezing, or runny nose, one needs to consider other causes (sinus infection for example). If your nose and eyes itch, it is likely from allergy which can confirmed by the history and skin testing. One can't tell whether one has an allergic problem by looking at the nose and throat alone. ...Read more

Prob not the best: A 42 yo female with watery eyes, itchy throat, throat drainage and runny stuffy nose. Sounds like rhinitis caused by allergies. First, avoidance of allergens is important, see an allergist to determine what you are allergic to. Best medicines are nasal steroid sprays (like Flonase or Nasacort OTC) and longer acting oral antihistamines (zyrtec, allegra).
