New mom. 3 wk old baby. Mom with shingles outbreak. What are recs for mom and baby ?

New mom. 3 wk old baby. Mom with shingles outbreak. What are recs for mom and baby ?

Baby likely immune: The answer depends on whether or not mom's antibodies got into the newborn before birth. If mom got shingles, that means she had chicken pox in the past, so mom does have antibodies. If baby is term and healthy, he received mom's antibodies and should not be vulnerable to chicken pox for at least 2 months. After 2-3 months of age, his "maternal" antibodies start fading away, and he is vulnerable. ...Read more

Not from the ...: Nursery water with fluoride does not have a concentration of fluoride above 0.7 ppm which is the reported "optimal level". Fluoride is also very often added to the drinking water that you get from the tap (depends on your community).
