Newborn Bilirubin Normal Range
Last month ast, ALT all normal, albumin, globulin, bilirubin not normal, this month albumin, bilirubin, globulin normal but AST and ALT very high.Possible?
Yes: This is not only possible but commonplace. I believe we've met. Cirrhosis is a chaotic system and labs fluctuate based on activity (damage / healing). We're not going to know for certain, but if we could talk to your liver, i'd bet he would tell you he's regenerated a huge number of cells which is why he's working better and has more total cells though still bearing injury. Be glad. ...Read more
Bilirubin is the potentially toxic product of heme metabolism. It is formed by breakdown of heme present in hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochromes, catalase, peroxidase and tryptophan pyrrolase. Eighty percent of the daily bilirubin production comes from hemoglobin. It requires conversion to a water-soluble form before elimination from the body by ...Read more

Recent blood test shows high direct bilirubin.Total bilirubin is 0.7 &direct0.5 and indirect 0.2. ALT,AST,GGT,Alk.Phos are in normal range. Is it ok?
Okay: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, there is nothing in your results to be concerned about. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Maybe: Lab tests can be tricky! is it 21?mol/l? Or maybe its 2.1? Or in mmol? (sometimes it can feel like high school physics again with all the unit conversions ;) ) the bilirubin level might be elevated, especially if you have a reason (like a recent bruise, hepatitis, or gallstones). If you have concerns, talk to your doc! ...Read more
Normal hb and normal wbc, normal platelet , slightly low RBC 4.4 ( range is 4.5-5.11) is this considered normal ?
Lab variation: This is usually not alarming. It is usually considered lab variation. Most of the time the ordering physician considers the reason they ordered the test, and decides if the variation has any significance in relation to that reason. If so, then they sometimes re-order at a future date to see if it indicates a certain directional trend. ...Read more
Explanations for elevated bilirubin ? (indirect high, direct normal)...also normal hemoglobin, low platelets, other liver function tests normal
Need more info: About 2-3% of otherwise normal people have elevated bilirubin, usually less than 5.0 mg/dL. Gilbert's disease is a usual cause and it despite disease in the name, it does not adversely affect a person's health. If you have any symptoms, it would be prudent to see your doctor. Normal hemoglobin, lower than normal MCH and MCHC). Serum ferritin in low normal range(40). What could it mean?
Stop worrying: You may have a very mild thalassemia variant. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. Ask your physician whether you have "thal minor" -- simply so that you'll know in case you are thinking of marrying someone else with it. ...Read more
Depends . . .: If fasting, 60-99mg/dl is considered normal. 100-125mg/dl is impaired fasting and 125mg/dl or greater on two separate occasions defines diabetes. Random >200mg/dl plus symptoms also defines diabetes. Think of blood sugar like speedometer in car which varies all time depending upon road conditions. Average speed is akin to hemoglobin a1c which is average sugar over last 3 months, ideally <5.7%. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Bilirubin 1.6, (id 1.3, d .25) other lft normal, reticulyte normal, , ultrasound normal . Bilirubin fluctuates, do I need to keep testing bili?
Probably Gilbert's: Gilbert’s syndrome is due to deficiency of an enzyme that helps to excrete bilirubin, so the indirect bilirubin is usually elevated, without increases in alkaline phosphatase. Patients with gilbert’s syndrome are prone to develop higher bili levels from time to time. The risk increases with fasting, dehydration, repeated and profuse vomiting, infections, exertion and stress and after a surgery. ...Read more
Small cells/less hgb: When a kid has small blood cells & reduced hemoglobin there is something interfering with the process. For some, it can be lack of iron in their diet which would also show up as anemia. For some, it is a genetic abnormality like thalassemia where the protein strands that make up the blood are not made correctly leading to the small depleted cells. ...Read more
