New Pill No Bleeding During Placebo
Does skipping placebo pills to skip a period & starting a new pack of BC lower effectiveness of the pill? No pills missed. Just skipped placebos.
Placebos are generally medications and sometimes physical or psychological substitutes which in themselves have no known effect but which cause the patient to feel as if they are getting some effect. They depend upon patient expectations and the fact that there is a strong psychological component ...Read more
Is withdrawal bleeding (not spotting, actual bleeding) during placebo week on combination birth control pills evidence you are not pregnant?
Had light breakthru bleeding 2 weeks before taking placebo pills, on Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 5 years, never had BTB. Should I have skipped the placebo pills instead?
Not necessarily: I may not make a big difference wether you skipped the placebo pills or not. Either way you would be protected from conceiving. Break thru bleeding is common on BCP. Things like stress, significant exercise or weight loss can affect the delicate hormonal control of your cycle. If the breakthrough bleeding reoccurs often see your Gyn to be sure no medical problems are causing it to reoccur. ...Read more

I'm taking birth control pill continuously. No period for months, but started bleeding a little since yesterday. Break through or irregular? Normal?
Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding which occurs when you have bleeding at unscheduled times while on the pill. Brown is simply old blood that has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Often things get back to normal the next cycle. If not then schedule a visit to discuss changing brands or changing birth control methods. This is very common. Other than being annoying it is not dangerous. ...Read more

Are there any side effects to skipping one period by taking a new pack of birth control & skipping the placebo week?
Low risk: Very few side effects expected. Possibly some spotting but that should be it. In general, there's nothing wrong with continuing to take active pills and skipping over the placebo pills. Every three months or so you should let yourself menstruate by either stopping the active pills or taking the placebo pills. ...Read more
Sex on the first day of the 7 day placebo pills (birth control pills), started the new pill pack 2 days late.
Is there a pregnancy risk from that particular encounter? (1st day of a 7 placebo period
Started placebo first 2 pills, then carried on with normal but had 'period'. Any chance could be pregnant? No active pills missed, only placebo's.
Unlikely ....: Not sure I completely understand but it sounds like you are taking birth control pills, took three weeks, then the placebo pill for day 22, 23, and then back to a new pack? Of course, if you took all 7 placebo pills, a period would be expected. Somewhat less likely if you only took two, but just missing the hormone/active pills for 2 days could have triggered this. You are unlikely pregnant. ...Read more

On 3rd pack of extended bc pill(skipped inactive pills), breakthrough bleeding in 3rd week of this pack after sex.Spotting still.Vaginal bleeding after bowel movement too.Is this due to extended bcp?
Period or withdrawal bleeding came before taking 21st pill. (before washout week). Is this ok? Never skipped pill. Loestrin.
Spotting on OCPs: Spotting while on loestrin can be caused by a delay in taking the pill, taking a medication (like antibiotics) that interfered with the effectiveness of the contraceptive. It can also occur in women who are above an average weight. You should discuss this with your doctor if it continues to occur. ...Read more
