Last two days fever but not know check blood test test result is white blood cell count high neutrophils high and lymphocytes low and urine albu pos?

Seems OK.: As long as you feel fine or are getting better these lab tests don't indicate much. Depending upon where you grew up and live in India these symptoms could represent serious disease, but the labs don't show anything specific. The way you feel should guide whether you need further testing. ...Read more

Blood test report: homocysteine level high/ blood platelets low/ bilirubin high. What could be wrong?

Big picture please: As a lab doctor, this means nothing in isolation. I appreciate your caring & this is no familiar pattern. Is the person clinically healthy? How off are the values? Vegetarians and junk-fooders are equally at risk for high homocysteine as are folks with genetic disease. Bilirubin -- gilbert's? Platelets -- gin and tonic? This isn't something to discuss in a 400-character text thx 4 understanding. ...Read more

Rbc count, WBC count, platelet count, RBC index, WBC differential count, hb, hct all blood test normal. Facing bleeding gum problem recently. Opinion?

Not blood's fault: If CBC normal as you say, more likely due to a change in the oral environment/ dental hygiene. Consider this to see if any change in brush/floss frequency or duration, change in tobacco or alcohol product use, or change in life stressors. In the interim, be sure you are brushing twice daily and flossing daily--this should stop bleeding--if not, consult dentist for exam and advice. ...Read more

Recent blood test shows low indirect bilirubin (.08)+increased blood volume (99.7)+increased hematocrit (47.2)+high WBC (14,200). Huh?

Uncertain.: The WBC is definitely high, but the HCT and MCV are borderline, and thus of uncertain significance. If truly elevated, the HCT could point to a primary or secondary polycythemia, an increase in the number of red blood cells. But this could also reflect mild dehydration, and given the borderline degree could be nothing. The high WBC is real. If you have no symptoms I would just repeat in 1mo. ...Read more

Reactive/ autoimmune: Discuss further with your hematologist. Certain conditions like iron deficiency , infection /inflammation vs autoimmune vs. Other solid tumor need to be ruled out. Need to check iron level, bcr/abl, imaging study like ct scan chest /abd/ pelvis will be needed. If you smoke - will suggest you to quit smoking., need to do work - up to find the anemia as well. Does CBC blood test include white and red blood cell count?

It can,,,: CBC stands for Complete Blood Count, which includes platelet, white blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. These last 2 values indicate the amount of blood in your body by concentration and percent of blood volume. A more thorough report can also show the size range and number of red cells along with a differential of the white cells. ...Read more

This is fine: Perhaps a bit of stress effect on your neutrohils. Can you clarify? What makes you think that you have paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria and/or leukemia? If all the WBC's are normal -- and you'd have heard if they weren't -- an adult almost certainly doesn't have leukemia. PNH presents dramatically. I'll bet you're fine. How do you FEEL? In blood test. Neutrophils low. Lymphs high Monocytes high .But only reading high on absolute was Granulocytes and Neutrophils. Cause for concern?

Neutrophils 77 slightly out of range but absolute neutrophils normal. Why elevated neutrophil level on the one blood test?

Totally meaningless: If the absolute values are in reference range, ignore it totally. I wish labs wouldn't even report these percentages. And reference ranges themselves are set up so that several percent of healthy people fall outside. A short swim in cold water can triple your neutrophil count. Don't treat labs -- look at people. ...Read more

My blood test, high esoniphils, high basophils and high neutrophils, any ideas why?

No: Hey Lisa -- If you feel well, simply ignore this stuff unless they're so far off that your physician actually talks to you about them. Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. Percentage counts mean nothing. I can shoot my absolute neutrophi count to 20,000 by ice-swimming. Eos must exceed 1500 to even raise an eyebrow; basos are no-worry. ...Read more

My blood test says evrything is great and the only thing that was a tad high was neutrophils. Im trying to figure out why I am always tired ?

Do you exercise?: It may seem counter-intuitive, but engaging in exercise may help. Start with walking and gradually increase the intensity. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more

I have been getting sick again and again for the past month. My blood test shows high tlc level. 79% neutrophils and 12% lymphocytes level. ?

Recurrent infections: White blood cells, also known as leukocytes, play an important role in the immune system of an individual. They fight infections against foreign organisms and destroy them. When acute infection occurs, TLC will increase. There may be an inbalance of bacteria in the gut leading to a recurrence of getting sick. And overstimulation of the immune system increasing TLC. Probiotics may be helpful. ...Read more

Need more info: The percentage of WBC types doesn't allow a hematologist much to help you with. The complete blood count including the total white blood count, the hemoglobin and platelet count are as important as the percentages of white blood cell types. Even more important is the history and symptoms of your situation. ...Read more

My dad made blood test but the white blood cell range was high 23000 /lymphocites also high about 80 &segmented neutrophils 17.what should he do??

Hard to comment: He has mostly absolute lymphocytosis. If this was just a blood screen this is most likely chronic lymphocytic leukemia or CLL, which most of the time is a slowly progressive disease. If he was sick at the time of the test would just recommend follow-up CBC in couple of weeks. When was the last time he had normal cell counts? Would recommend seeing a hematologist if no acute sickness. ...Read more

1yr old has bruise on leg bloods came back platlelet 90 neutrophils 0.7 why are the requesting second blood test?

Confirmation: The numbers you give are not very helpful but platelets of 90(thousand) are on the low side. What .7 neuts refers to is confusing. You repeat a test to see if the initial test was wrong, the levels change or to define the problem more clearly. Low platelets could be a technical glitch, a problem with production or excessive destruction.Further testing narrows your search. ...Read more

I received blood test results that say my white blood cells were 15.7 and my neutrophils were 12403. What could this mean?

May just be stress: If you are not obviously ill, and the smear was not reported as abnormal, you may just be stressed. Just a cold shower can raise neutrophils even higher; it causes them to detach from the blood vessels and move in the blood in search of possible invaders. A follow-up may be in order. ...Read more

What are some reasons why my 10-year-old son would have both low platelets and low neutrophils and everything else be normal on his blood test?

Out of Context: There is nothing specific to give you any advice on. A blood cell report is interpreted as a whole, not as individual results. Given everything else being normal then there is likely nothing to comment upon. But, it is the job of the ordering physician to interpret this report for you. ...Read more
