Nerve Tingling After Yoga
Yoga poses caused tingling of hand+ twitching of finger. 3 week of yoga later symptom now less. Did it help or did I kill off the nerve?
Interesting: From your description and history, yoga was not harmful. You did not kill a nerve. Degenerative disc disease in a 26 year old man requires exercise, posture training and review of your lifestyle. Yoga with an instructor that understands your condition would normally be a good thing. Breathing properly during postures can change the pressure on your discs. Inversion postures recommended. ...Read more

T7-t8 disc protrusion, radiating pain, tingling along left upper back, is yoga and weights contraindicated?
Contraindicated? Eh-: Hard to be sure without an exam but it seems enticing to say the symptoms are consistent with an observed anatomical defect. CONTRAINDICATED? I think that is better answered following a good eval by neurology & then, physical therapy. Instinctively, I think weights need to be limited but I believe yoga can be more "flexible? " shall we say? No pun intended! ...Read more
I did my first yoga session and had tingling, numbess and pain in my hands. Also a bit dizzy and a headache after. Is this normal? What could be cause?
Let ur teacher know: Numbness, tingling, and pain are not commonly associated with yoga. In fact, yoga is supposed to be pain-free, enjoyable, and relaxing. So you need to let your teacher know. So this doesn't happen again during your next class. Also the postures you might have done may have pinched a nerve, or created some type of discomfort from your neck down to your hand. If this persists, it's best to see your family dr. For medical advice. ...Read more

Former gymnast, now starting yoga. Numbness/tickle/tingle feeling waist down anytime I do a backbend. Never had this before. Possible pinched nerve?
Possibly: It is possible that you could have nerve compression causing your symptoms that worsens with bending forward. However, there is usually accompanying pain, either in the back or legs or both. Also, in the case of spinal stenosis, nerve compression actually is relieved by bending forward. I would recommend an MRI as well as xrays with you leaning forward and backward. ...Read more

I think I have a pinched nerve in my tailbone. I've been doing yoga and seeing chiropracter to help. Do I need an xray or other diagnostic services?
No: If you are having weakness or tingling or numbness in your legs, imaging may be considered. Other red flags would be trouble with bowel or bladder, or fever. If you have not been evaluated by a physician, that might be worthwhile because that could also lead to a referral for a good physical therapist that is comfortable with the pelvis, hips and pelvic floor. That could really be helpful. ...Read more
