The brain and spinal cord communicates with what is occurring in the internal organs and limbs by nerve fibers where are like electrical wires with insulation (myelin) and the "copper" (axon). Within brain and spinal cord these nerves connect to other nerves via synapses on both axons and dendrites. A nerve can carry information regarding sensations, and ...Read more
I have a nerve pain between my index finger and my left thumb and when i touch it hurts what could that be?
Since 2 weeks I have lot of bone and nerve pain around elbow region of both hands.the nerve pain extends to ring finger. 31 yr male. Is this serious?
Consider: The radiation to your ring finger raises question of ulnar nerve compression at elbow in cubital tunnel, but the focal elbow issues seem primary and maybe medial or lateral epicondylitis, bursitis, or even a boney or joint issue. Wonder if some of this evolved due to primary B-12 problems. ...Read more

I have nerve pain in my right index finger after playing violin for a nine-hour gig. I'm hoping it will go away on its own but I can hardly play now.
Rest: Musicians have injuries that are very similar to athletes, you need to rest to let it improve. In addition, I think you need a full history and physical exam. Age? Smoking history? Weakness? Facial asymmetry? Tick bite history? I would get a full exam including a focused neurological exam and some labs drawn. Stay calm, rest, and see MD, good luck. ...Read more

How long for nerve pain at blood draw site, i.e forearm, that extends to palm, little, ring fingers to resolve?7 days since the draw. Signs to watch for?
It should resolve: Quickly. If not see your doctor for evaluation. It's unlikely that a nerve was injected or pinched, but there could be swelling from the blood draw if it leaked into the tissue causing inflammation around the nerve. So, you may benefit from applying warm compress around the site, and seeing if that helps or not. Using anti-inflammatory OTC meds. If it's numb, tingling, painful, please see your Dr! ...Read more

Not Good, Hands Down: This is a problem. The tips of the fingers are designed for sensitivity. And the nerves often freak-out when disturbed like yours have been. The pain and heightened sensitivity can last for a long time. So, before your body gets used to it (yes, it can adjust, but you won't like it)you'll need some hands rehab if that pain doesn't go away soon. There's no ideal medication for this, so talk to your doc ...Read more
