Is ureaplasma urealyticum/parvum linked to hiv.

Is ureaplasma urealyticum/parvum linked to hiv.

No link: Ureaplasma parvum and most strains of U urealyticum are normal genital tract bacteria, present in the vagina or male urinary tract in at least 50% of healthy persons. UU sometimes causes nongonococcal/nonspecific urethritis in men (NGU, NSU), but no health problems in women are known. There is no link with HIV. Your nearest NHS GUM clinic is an excellent source for additional information. ...Read more

Hep B Virus (HBV) DNA Qualitative (Detection) - COBAS TaqMan , Hep C RNA Detection by Taqman detection will be conclusive on 47 days? Any retest need?

No: Both Hepatitis B and C viruses may be detected 30 to 60 days after infection by antigen detection or 60-120 days with antibody testing. Direct HBV DNA and HCV RNA testing can potentially detect infection earlier, within 2-4 weeks after infection, so being tested at 47 days post-exposure with a negative nucleic acid test for both is very likely to be a true negative ...Read more

+ gonorrhoeae DNA amplification test, but, neg. Amp RNA test(source urine). Do they have gonorrhoeae? Is one test more reliable?

Complicated: Although these tests are very sensitive there are false positive results because of the potential presence of other benign species of neisseria. If you had to compare the two it would be without much relevant data. Bacterial culture will provide both a definitive diagnosis and allow determination of antibiotic sensitivities. ...Read more

Can non chlamidial ngu cause pid in female partner. Gonorrhoea, chlamidia, mycoplasma genitalium, ureaplsama , trich all negative. No std found. ?

Can non chlamidial ngu cause pid in female partner. Gonorrhoea, chlamidia, mycoplasma genitalium, ureaplsama , trich all negative. No std found. ?

Probably not: Neither PID nor any other health problem has ever been documented in the sex partners of men with NGU not due to chlamydia or M. genitalium. Does your partner have PID, or are you just worried concerned about it? If the latter, my advice is to not worry. If PID is suspected, she of course should see her doctor or perhaps an NHS GUM clinic. Otherwise nothing need be done. ...Read more

My friend test std, results . chlamydia trachomatis positive, abnormal andnon reactive negative. Hsv 2 igG. 2.69. HSV 1 igG. 37.90. the me?

What's the question?: You don't ask a question -- I'm not sure what information you're looking for. These HSV test results are positive for both HSV1 and HSV2. However, when the HSV1 IgG antibody test is very strongly positive and the HSV2 result is much lower, as in your friend, the HSV2 result sometimes is false. Additional testing, preferably with a Western blot test, can sort it out. ...Read more

Rough disease: The diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum is primarily clinical. If my labs were equivocal or even nonsupportive but i was concerned that i had it, i would undergo the full, long course of treatment. I'd be interested in hearing from the infectious disease folks as well. ...Read more

Hepatitis b antibody.Standard 5 item HBV test, only HBV surface antibody present. How immune is this to a partner of HBV carrier status through sex?
