I injected my medication, top of the thigh 1 inch 25G. Aspirated no blood. Pulled needle out and it bled for 30 sec. should I worry? Inject into vein?
The fact that you: didn't get any blood when you pulled back the plunger suggests you were not in a vein. You may have lacerated a little vessel on the way in or back out. Best to use ice immediately. Since it clotted in 30 seconds you likely don't have a bleeding disorder. I think this might occur in perhaps 5% of subcutaneous injections. Avoid this area for future injections until back to normal. Stay well:) ...Read more

Radiologist: a fluoroscopy for epidural spinal injections for back pain (l5-s1). It's about the same radiation exposure for me as one chest X-ray ?
Not Exactly True: Depends on how long the procedure takes. Typically most epidural injections take about 15-20 sec of fluoroscopy time, that is in order of 10x less than typical chest x-ray. Now if injection takes longer than one minute (60 sec) of fluoroscopy time than you will be close for exposure. That's a lot of flouro for this injection! ...Read more

Define safe, painles: The MRI is generally safe and does not cause problems unless you have claustrophobia. The problems is the contrast (dye) which requires an IV site - & hence a needle venipuncture. The dyes used varies at different places, but (high-osmolar) contrast dyes with Gadolinium have been known to cause nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. Ask the doctor ordering the MRI if dye HAS to be used, & for alternatives ...Read more

Are there different kinds of needle breast biopsies? My mom says she had a “core needle biopsy.” is that the same as a plain “needle biopsy”?
Yes to 1st ?: A core needle biopsy is a special needle that is larger and takes large pieces of breast tissue. It is very accurate. Plain needle biopsy is probably referring to a fine needle biopsy. This is a smaller needle and does not get actual pieces of breast tissue. It gets cells for cytology which is not as accurate as a core biopsy. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What are the advantages of a butt lift over butt implants? I am considering a butt augmentation but can't decide between a Brazilian butt lift and implants for the skin on my rear that is droopy. The Brazilian seems less invasive; are there any other adva
Butt Lift or Implant: Butt lift vs implant a bbl is safer for the patient since there is a lower chance of a complication arising. Since the implant procedure needs an incision, it is more likely to get infected and cause problems post-op. Also, since a bbl is a less complicated procedure, the healing time is also a lot shorter and patients can return to work sooner. However, you do need sufficient fat elsewhere in you. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
