What do you feel about tx being the 1st state to allow employers to have access to employee health records?
My understanding...: Was that employers can get a list of employees and family - not identified by name, but by a code - whose health spending was greater than 15, 000. It also lists the diagnosis, amount paid, dates of service, prognoses and treatment plans. Personally, i'm not too comfortable with it... But the argument is if the employer is paying the medical bills, then they should have access to the info. ...Read more

Any advantage to allowing insurance company to assign a rn to manage one's ongoing medical care and decisions?
Yes: If well trained, caring, thoughtful, & beholden to his/her expertise can bring doctor's concerns to insurance company & get case moved along. Unfortunately, as I have observed, such nurses sometimes get fired for not adhering to common insurance company posture of knee-jerk denials and cost savings. In any case the nurse enlarges target for the doctor's advocacy. So yes, get one. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

This is not the same as having the depth and breadth of 4 years of medical education, or serving a 4 year psychiatric medicine residency (which includes general medicine rotations). Treating with meds is much more involved than writing scrips alone. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
