Pinched Nerves: Swollen lymph nodes in the arm pit is a concern for a physician. It is possible there are two different pathologies or conditions going on here. From the picture, it looks like there is climbing which could explain shoulder blade pain radiating to the neck and might be a pinched nerve. Not normally: No, not normally. Contracture of the SCM would not really affect the jugular vein unless you contract it to the extent that increases the pressure in the venous system which causes venous distension in general.
