Be careful: Be careful with neck strengthening as they can make neck problems worse. Working with a pt or trainer who is trained on this area of the body can be very beneficial. Resisted motion using a towel (bending forward, backward, to each side) can be used - trainers know how much tension to put on the towel. Depends on surgery: Talk to you doctor and your pt team. If he or they are not available just do some simple stretching, heat and massage. Not knowing exactly what type of fusion was performed. there is the pop from bubbles popping out of a joint. Generally feels good, no pain, and has zero significance.
There is repeated popping from rough tendons rubbing.
There is popping from a structure ripping. There is severe pain with that.

Yes: Too much of anything including stretching can be harmful. I recommend stretching exercises a lot however there are some people who are a bit too flexible and risk damage to their joints if they overstretch. Most people have the opposite problem; they are too inflexible. ...Read more
