Neck Shoulder Muscle Knots
I have got a numbness in left jaw area for about one month ago and I already have neck stiffness which lead to shoulder and muscle pain what to do?
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
Can myofacial syndrome be cured? Is tightness in the neck, shoulder and muscle knots on 1 side a symptom?
I woke up with a stiff neck and shoulder muscle. My worry is why it was swollen up? Is that normal??
Shoulder pain: Clearly this is not "normal". You have injured yourself somehow. Perhaps you were lifting something that was too heavy for you ar you repeatedly exerted yourself to 100% with the shoulder and have and overuse problem. Ice it 20 minutes 4xday, take some anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen 600mg 4x day) and rest it. If its not better in a week OR it gets worse (Red/hot/more painful) see a doc.
See orthopedist: Could be from the shoulder or referred. Common referred sources include: abdomen, heart and neck. Shoulder sources include: arthritis, labral tears, instability, tendinitis, rotator cuff tears, bursitis, painful bony spurs etc. Shoulder blade pain can be from the neck or bursitis around the blade. A herniated disk in the neck could be causing your symptoms. See an orthopedist.
Tightness and pain in the left neck, head and shoulder muscle subsides after lying down. .. Why???
Maybe stress: Could be related to stress. Muscle tightness is really nonspecific, and does not point to some dangerous diagnosis. If it is really bothersome, see your primary care for a more complete evaluation. Hope this helps!
See below: That would be unusual.Get a more detailed answer ›

Have severe neck and shoulder muscle tension from stress and anxiety. Already been xrayed. Can it progress to paralysis? Pain is pretty bad
Dought paralysis: Unless there re other morbidities- try physical therapy.
I have excercised and have a very tight right shoulder muscle, right neck muscle, and a vein over right eyebrow that has just popped out. All related?
Maybe: It sounds like a pulled muscle in your neck. I don't see how the vein over your eyebrow is related to it. Perhaps you have become more aware and focused because of your pain and you notice it now. If the veins in your neck are being compressed it could cause the veins in your forehead to enlarge. I have knots all over neck and shoulder areas that VERY painful. Massage, pt, muscle relaxers don't help. Thoughts on dry needling?
Dry needling: Can be a little uncomfortable but is definitely useful for this problem. Acupuncture in general can offer many, approaches (including dry needling). You may respond well to Gua Sha (Scraping). Good luck!
I started getting knots in my muscles between my shoulder blades and now my neck cracks and when I look down I c a shock all the way to back of feet?
What causes painful muscle knots in the neck/shoulder region? Will massage help? Will trigger point injections helps?
Myofascial pain: You're not alone--This is a very common but poorly understood disorder. We weren't evolved to be spending all day with our shoulders crunched up, typing on computers! Ergonomic changes help some people, and massage and trigger point injections also help some people, as you mention. Discuss ergonomics with your PT, she/he may be a good resource for you.
I have really bad muscle knots in my shoulder/neck region. Really painful. What type (s) of Doctor does trigger point injections?
Sequencing: First, get a visit with an osteopathic or physiatrist specialist, and uncover causation. Although TPI's might indeed be useful, other therapeutic interventions might be better, so start with understanding and move to rehab.
I'm waking up to muscle pain in my upper back (knot), then it spreads to my neck and shoulder after a few weeks. What's the cause and remedy?
Pinched nerve: Because patients having cardiac problems can have these symptoms, you should have this ruled out. But the most common cause is an irritation of a nerve in the neck by a bone spur or herniation that can cause pain or numbness that runs down the arm into the hand. An MRI can usually show the cause of the problem if it does not resolve. Thank you for the question.

See an ortho doc: A "torn shoulder muscle" most commonly refers to a rotator cuff tear. Some patients will have rotator cuff tears that are amenable to initial non-operative management while others will require more aggressive treatment to lessen the risk of long-term shoulder dysfunction. An orthopedic surgeon with an expertise in shoulders, after an office evaluation, can best advise you.
Possibly: This is especially true if the fall resulted in new trauma to the shoulder.
