Yes: As long as you have no stroke symptoms or vision changes, can see pcp if soon. Will listen for bruit and possibly order ultrasound of carotids. Concern is for blockage or dissection/aneurysm. If have stroke symptoms or history call for ambulance. Also helpful to check your BP and make sure is not at dangerous level. When in doubt, check it out. ...Read more

Pulse: What you are feeling when you are feeling the pulse is the pulse pressure. It is possible to have a high systolic and also a high diastolic with a narrow pulse pressure and generate a smaller sensation than a normal systolic and normal or wide pulse pressure. That said, it is an oversimplification and isn't strictly correct in every physiologic situation. ...Read more

Do you know if there are other places on your body where you can feel your pulse besides your neck?
Just a min ago I could fell my pulse by my neck go crazy for about 3 seconds and I was not touching it?
Could be muscles: It is possible that you had a run of abnormal heart beats and this requires having a Holter Monitor. You should also have a blood test to make sure your potassium and magnesium are normal (any medications?). However this could also be just muscle spasm. I suggest seeing a physician to look at your electrolytes and test your heart rhythm over a 24-72 hour period with a portable holter. ...Read more

I guess that u: Understand that if it is fast in the neck it means the heart is beating fast, perhaps you feel it more in the neck. Look tat up see what you think. Good luck. ...Read more

Almost like a mild vibrating feel in my upper chest and neck past 3mornings and last night for2 hours. Only obvious when I'm laying down. Not my pulse?
Suspect vascular: This may be vascular. Not from your balls but from another blood vessel that also involves your heart rate. It also could be vascular, neurologic, muscular. You need to make sure your physician has you do a vascular valuation to be certain as to why this sensation is occurring. Would also suggest x-rays of your chest and maybe your neck and a cardiac evaluation ...Read more
No, not to worry: Being able to detect a pulse by applying pressure over an artery requires the artery to be quite superficial and easy to feel under the skin. Not everybody's artery is in a location that makes it easy to feel, whether that is at the neck, wrist or groin. As long as you are conscious and can feel a good pulse somewhere, you are good to go! ...Read more

Is it normal for the pulse on right side of neck to feel stronger than the left? More apparent in the evening. Rhythm is regular, not too fast.
Something or nothing: Sorry to be equivocal, but this could be something or could be unremarkable. A physical exam with attention to the carotid pulse (on both sides of neck) would be required to evaluate for carotid stenosis--which is narrowing of the inside of vessel usually due to cholesterol buildup found in older patients. In your age, I would consider coarctation of aorta which you would have been born with. ...Read more

Pulse in neck was fast after doing jump rope. As soon as I squatted down the pulse dramatically & instantly lowered. Is this a normal phenomenon?
Increase in heart rate with exercise is normal.

The harder and stronger your pulse in your neck is the higher your BP probably is right? Could I have higher BP when I almost have no palpation pulse?
No connection: Although it would seem to follow that the higher your blood pressure the stronger your pulse would be, I don't believe that is the case. A week or non-palpable pulse may indicate the presence of partial or complete blockage of an artery by atherosclerosis. My guess is that you are not palpating in the correct area to feel your pulse. If you had no pulse you wouldn't be able to write us :) ...Read more
More details: How fast is your pulse. You can almost always feel your pulse in your neck below the corner of your jaw, on both sides: the carotid arteries. If you have symptoms of a fast pulse, dizziness, shortness of breath or chest pain then you need to call 911. ...Read more
