When feeling the neck, the stronger the pulse is the higher the BP is right?

Pulse: What you are feeling when you are feeling the pulse is the pulse pressure. It is possible to have a high systolic and also a high diastolic with a narrow pulse pressure and generate a smaller sensation than a normal systolic and normal or wide pulse pressure. That said, it is an oversimplification and isn't strictly correct in every physiologic situation. ...Read more

Just a min ago I could fell my pulse by my neck go crazy for about 3 seconds and I was not touching it?

Could be muscles: It is possible that you had a run of abnormal heart beats and this requires having a Holter Monitor. You should also have a blood test to make sure your potassium and magnesium are normal (any medications?). However this could also be just muscle spasm. I suggest seeing a physician to look at your electrolytes and test your heart rhythm over a 24-72 hour period with a portable holter. ...Read more

Suspect vascular: This may be vascular. Not from your balls but from another blood vessel that also involves your heart rate. It also could be vascular, neurologic, muscular. You need to make sure your physician has you do a vascular valuation to be certain as to why this sensation is occurring. Would also suggest x-rays of your chest and maybe your neck and a cardiac evaluation ...Read more

Should I be worried if I can't find pulse in wrist but normal pulse in neck?

No, not to worry: Being able to detect a pulse by applying pressure over an artery requires the artery to be quite superficial and easy to feel under the skin. Not everybody's artery is in a location that makes it easy to feel, whether that is at the neck, wrist or groin. As long as you are conscious and can feel a good pulse somewhere, you are good to go! ...Read more

Why does my heartbeat feel very weak and can barely feel it beating? Normal pulse but weaker on left side & in neck.

Heartbeat: Probably not a concern but I strongly recommend you see your primary doctor to confirm that all is OK.
If the doctor finds things are OK but you are still troubled, you might want to see a Psychologist - you will be very relieved once you have met the Psychologist.
Please keep me posted. ...Read more

Is it normal for the pulse on right side of neck to feel stronger than the left? More apparent in the evening. Rhythm is regular, not too fast.

Something or nothing: Sorry to be equivocal, but this could be something or could be unremarkable. A physical exam with attention to the carotid pulse (on both sides of neck) would be required to evaluate for carotid stenosis--which is narrowing of the inside of vessel usually due to cholesterol buildup found in older patients. In your age, I would consider coarctation of aorta which you would have been born with. ...Read more

Pulse in neck was fast after doing jump rope. As soon as I squatted down the pulse dramatically & instantly lowered. Is this a normal phenomenon?

Yes: Increase in heart rate with exercise is normal.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Can the pulse be strong but still the BP be normal? If I feel the pulse strong in me neck it is probably high BP right? And if I don't its the opposite

Not accurate: Your fingers aren't that good. Measure your BP. Don't even begin to think you can guess it by palpating your carotid pulse. There are variables: depth of the artery under your sternoclidomastoid muscles, your ability to discern are the 2 biggest ones. ...Read more

I have this pain in my neck feels like its right where my pulse is. Its not constant. But usually have it after I wake up sometimes. I'm a lil worried?

Probably muscular: I doubt your pain is something serious but nonetheless given the new occurance you need to be examined by her primary care physician. I suspect that your symptoms are possibly muscular but at this time with your brief description and without examining you it's very difficult to give your an accurate diagnosis. ...Read more

The harder and stronger your pulse in your neck is the higher your BP probably is right? Could I have higher BP when I almost have no palpation pulse?

No connection: Although it would seem to follow that the higher your blood pressure the stronger your pulse would be, I don't believe that is the case. A week or non-palpable pulse may indicate the presence of partial or complete blockage of an artery by atherosclerosis. My guess is that you are not palpating in the correct area to feel your pulse. If you had no pulse you wouldn't be able to write us :) ...Read more

Fast pulse on the left side of neck?

More details: How fast is your pulse. You can almost always feel your pulse in your neck below the corner of your jaw, on both sides: the carotid arteries. Too fast would be over 120, generally, although this depends on age and medications you might be taking. Do you feel fine otherwise? If you have symptoms of a fast pulse, dizziness, shortness of breath or chest pain then you need to call 911. ...Read more

Strong pulse in neck and rapid heartbeat. Is that ok?

Carotids: Your carotid arteries traverse the left and right side of your neck and the better you can feel them, the healthier it is, assuming your blood pressure is normal. Aneurysms are very rare. Rapid hb is a separate issue. Rates of up 100 (170 with peak exercise) may be normal. ...Read more
