Not really: epiglottis is rare in your age group, you are describing common cold symptoms, possibly pharyngitis too, most of the time it is a viral infection, the common home remedies would help besides rest and pain killers, if not better, see your doctor, good luck ...Read more

Virus: This suggests a viral upper respiratory tract infection which usually runs its course in a week. Allergies are unlikely in view of the presence of fever. Doctor can evaluate: If due to allergies, adults and older children can try allergy pills such as Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, or Benadryl (diphenhydramine). Benadryl is sedating. The allergy pills help with allergies in the eyes, nose, skin, etc... However, eye allergies sometimes need prescription eye drops, nasal sprays, or Singulair, for extra help with symptoms.
