DISH: Exaggerated bone spurs on the front of the spine may do this. Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, if you're a googler. Unlikely if you're 35. I would treat these as two separate problems. See a physician: This may be something as simple as a rib that is out place, but with a sharp pain during swallowing, i would recommend seeing a physician and having an examination, possibly imaging to make sure something more serious is not occurring. Many strap muscles: First, if this has been going on for a while, it needs to be looked at by your doctor. Do a google search of neck muscle anatomy (look for photos) and try to figure out which of the strap muscles is in the location of your pain. There are several layers of muscles so you may need to study a few different diagrams. See if palpating and stretching a specific muscle helps or aggravates your pain. ...Read more
