I've had two asthma attacks in the past two days, how many times can I safely use my nebulizer a day? And if my attacks continue today what do I do?

See your doc soon: Albuterol nebulizers and/or inhalers can be used every 4 to 6 hrs as needed especially during an asthma flare. See your doc soon - you may need a Prednisone treatment and long acting inhalers taken twice daily that can control your asthma better. This would lower your need for using your albuterol so much. Common side effects from albuterol are increased heart rate and temporary tremors. Best! ...Read more

Do I need a prescription to buy sterile saline for a nebulizer? Will it work to break up chest congestion? Cough, not wheezing-don't need albuterol.

Do I need a prescription to buy sterile saline for a nebulizer? Will it work to break up chest congestion? Cough, not wheezing-don't need albuterol.

Not really: Well, looks like you've got the albuterol in case you need it. Keep in mind that sometimes the body's response to inflammed airways is a cough, so albuterol may help that as well.
Sterile saline is available at any corner drug store, wal-mart, target, etc. In fact, many wound washes you find in the first-aid section are just sterile saline. Just read the bottle. Good luck, and see your doctor! ...Read more

Could a nebulizer up your anus for about two seconds becoming very painful lead to and air embolism?

Could a nebulizer up your anus for about two seconds becoming very painful lead to and air embolism?

I take it that you: Inserted the neublizer into your rectum and did this. I would assume that expansion of the rectum from the air could cause pain. I don't know about air embolisms from this source. This is not a healthy sexual behavior. You will also need to continue using your nebulizer since you have asthma - don't want to contaminate that. What we put in body orifices can harm us. ...Read more
