Hypertension: Hypertension is caused by age related stiffening of the vascular system, worsened by excess weight, excess sodium intake, lack of exercise, use of tobacco or illicit drugs. It may be related to kidney or hormone related issues which can be evaluated if initial treatment with life-style changes and medications do not control the bp, further evaluation may be needed. ...Read more

Beta blocker ( 5 mg bystolic) @ am causing low pulse rate low 50 day time and high 30 to low 40 while sleep. Is this ok/any risk.
I take amlodipine @pm
Talk to your Dr: I would not call your beta blocker as the problem--it is not a high dose, and should not have that pronounced of an effect through the entire day into the night. You may just have a low resting heart rate, in which case other class(-es) of meds may be better options for you. Should discuss your concerns w/your dr--otherwise will never know about this! ...Read more
'Monitored' for 5 years and every time Calcium ~10.3, PTH 20-30, ICA, 24hr, ALB/Phos ok. Dehydration negative. Wax/waning symptoms. D=28. Suppl=no?
Are you sure?: Have your blood been tested while you had or did not have the concerned symptoms for comparison & correlation so to decide if there is a necessity under tight monitoring? if not, do so to see what may make sense. Remember: Do not work against the truth and facts of life out of "i would rather be safe than sorry." but under the logic of common sense. Best wish to health... ...Read more
My bloods show low calcium.... Is 2.17 mmol/l. - adjusted for albumin 2.24 mmol/l severely low or just low? Can that low level cause seizures etc?
Low limit of normal: Your calcium is at the lower limit of normal. At this level it not likley to cause any symptoms. You may wish to increase your intake of milk to ensure enough calcium and protein in your diet. Aldosterone 161 pmol/l - renin/aldosterone ratio 5 - renin 11.4 ng/l - angiotensin II 8ng/l. I have postural orthostatic tachycarda. Why low angioten?
All connected: I am not an expert on this and you don't mention your lab standards so it is hard to say, but they are all connected to each other to regulate the volume of fluid and salt held or released by your kidney and there for your blood pressure. Too little salt then too little volume of blood and BP drops when you stand. ...Read more
Weight 345 now 331. Heart rate was 70-80's now 50-60's resting. Eating low carb, low fat, low sugar With housework it's 114. Is it safe?
Cautiously: Congratulations on taking a road to better health! I'm surprised your heart rate dropped this much with a 15# weight loss; perhaps you are exercising more/staying active. I'm not worried about that change. I presume you are not on any blood sugar lowering medicine. Your blood sugar should be fine on this diet as long as your daily calorie intake DOES NOT fall below 1000-1200 cal/day. Best wishes:) ...Read more

Passing gas: since apr/13, my volume is up 200-400%. High fiber diet. Lithium toxicity undiagnosed 5 yrs. Dosage lowered to 450mg 6 mo's ago.Related?
Not from Lithium: Your increase in flatus is more likely due to your high fiber diet, rather than lithium. Lithium can cause diarrhea ; loose stools in 20% of patients. That said, high fiber is healthy for your bowels. As long as it's coming out, the gas will not harm you. You could avoid gas-forming foods like broccoli, beans, onions, fermentable fiber, lactose, etc, for a couple of weeks ; then test 1 by 1. ...Read more

Boy 30 year high b, p, acidity problem livertest report ALT boarder level height 6, weight 120, b, p, medicine Micardis (telmisartan) treatmentplease?
No magicians here: No physician would presume to diagnose or suggest treatment given this little information -- we don't know if he's 120 lb (skinny) or 120 kg (heavy). He'll get his liver enzymes worked up; if repeat testing off alcohol and meds has them still high, a check for the hepatitis family, hemochromatosis and wilson's is in order. If it's the metabolic syndrome, the mainstay of rx is fitness activities. ...Read more
