Beginning day 4 of 7 days of bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and Flagyl for UTI & diarrhea. Now have intense headaches & nausea. Could i safely be switched to other meds?
Ask your doctor: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it. ...Read more
Taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) and metrodinazole for colitis but can one of this antibiotics cause kidney infection? Been drinking ginger ale for nausea too?
Doxycycline effects: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and sometimes vomiting are common side effects of taking doxycycline. Oftentimes, these symptoms disappear as you continue taking the antibiotic for the prescribed duration of treatment. Probiotics: You could consider taking probiotics products like kefir - which is inexpensive and readily available in most markets. You can also consider more expensive products like Bio-K which you can find in Whole Food. Try to take the refrigerated formulatoin since they tend to contain higher live bacteria count. Switched from lorezepam to cirpalex and I'm experiencing side effects like nausea and shaking . Withdrawals from lorazepam or side effects from cipra?
See a doctor: Lorazepam withdrawal can be deadly. If a larger dose is stopped suddenly, it can lead to withdrawal and citalopram will not help that. There are also dangerous side effects from SSRIs like citalopram that can happen after first starting. Best advice is to seek medical care right away to avoid serious consequences. ...Read more

Can use of vaginal progestrone cause nausea and vomiting in pregnancy when already suffering from severe morning sickness compelling to take zofran (ondansetron)?
I took vibramycin (doxycycline) 100mg capsule along with Flagyl (1 each) for dental infection and now my stomach is burning like nausea. Took it after food.
Antibiotics: Antibiotics can use GI distress. Taking 1 will not prevent spread of dental infection, you need a full course of the antibiotics for effective treatment. Know also that antibiotics alone will not "cure" a dental infection. You need specific dental treatment for that. Please see a Dentist rather than trying to self-medicate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What is more effective in PREVENTMENT/treatment of nausea and vomiting due to viral gastroenteritis? Metoclopramide or Zofran (ondansetron)?
Nausea~: hello~ Zofran is reserved for severe nausea that accompanies chemotherapy, so I would use something safer and first line like Compazine (prochlorperazine), (prochlorperazine) which would work better than metaclopamide, but metaclopamide can be used in mild cases. You will need to ask your doc for a script for Compazine (prochlorperazine). thanks ...Read more

Taking Wellbutrin, Metformin, Spironolactone, Doxycycline, ferrous sulfate. Have no appetite and upset stomach. Which most likely the cause?
Not related: The symptoms you describe are likely not related directly to the steroid shot. However, the steroid could have slightly lowered your immune defenses to infections, making you just a bit more prone to pick up a stomach virus and not you have viral gastroenteritis (doctor talk for the stomach flu). Rest, fluids, probiotics, low lactose, low residue - not lots of roughage- diet. ...Read more
Perhaps: Diarrhea is a side effect of fluconazole. But, it's possible that the diarrhea is viral. Did the diarrhea start with the fluconazole? Have you had antibiotics prior to the fluconazole? Antibiotics can cause a type of diarrhea in of themselves. If Fluconazole is for a yeast infection, i would recommend taking probiotics to help with this as well. Go see your pcp if not better. ...Read more
