YES: SOMETIMES this situation (large kidney stone) can deteriorate due to INFECTION behind it!! You need immediate evaluation in ER!!!!!

You need a full exam labs urine C&S. 24 urine for stone analysis kidney ultrasound or CT. And usually empiric antibiotic therapy pending the results. Drink plenty of water, take the pills they gave you. If the stone is small enough it will pause on it's own. If it hasn't passed and your still having pain you may need to see a urologist.
