2006 left me with a compound fracture of the right femur. The rod is stainless steel and was special ordered for size. And 3 pins. What does it weigh?

Similar to tibia: Sorry just answered a very similar question regarding the weight of a titanium tibial rod(~12 ounces). So a stainless steel rod which is likely 2-6cm.Longer( depending on how tall u are)w/3 interlocking screws may weigh 16 ounces( give or take 2-3 ounces).Special ordered?( for your length or width of femur-- unusual in compound=open fxs.)possibly u meant comminuted( 'shattered')? Hope that helps! ...Read more

Does pure alcohol 95 cleans and disinfect better than soap or hand gels ? And is totally safe on the skin (hands specially ) ?

Depends: In general a good long scrub with lots of running clean city water is very good and is what surgeons scrub with. Ninety five percent alcohol is very drying to the skin and can irritate. The only problem i can see would be if you are allergic to it or have "multiple hydrocarbon sensitivity" in which case you need to stay away from it completely. ...Read more

Why a surgeon choosing to suture the bucket handle tear meniscus for the knee instead of removing it ?

Why a surgeon choosing to suture the bucket handle tear meniscus for the knee instead of removing it ?
