Natural Ways To Clear Acne
Forgive my frankness: Acne is a serious, non-lifestyle-related, chronic disease that is a serious personal and professional liability if it is not managed until it remits on its own. The benzoyl peroxide that's the mainstay of initial treatment is derived from nature, the retinoic acid derivatives are vitamin a analogues, and the antibiotics are nature's gifts. They're what works. Take advantage of them. Best wishes. ...Read more
No quick fix: Forget "natural" / "pop" remedies. The stuff that works -- topical benzoyl peroxide, topical / systemic vitamin A analogues, topical / systemic antibiotics -- are all nature's gifts. Acne isn't curable but if you work hard, using your physician as needed, you can keep on top of it until it remits on its own. ...Read more

See a dermatologist: I do not think that natural ways are the best way to get rid of acne. Good luck! everyone deserves to have clear skin since it is so important psychologically. ...Read more

Scientific Rx: Two weeks trial of topical benzoyl peroxide alone. This clears most mild acne. If not clear, physician's office visit. Options may include topical retinoic acid derivative, topical clindamycin, the oral contraceptive pill for a woman who can take it, and/or an appropriate systemic antibiotic right for the patient. Tough cases referred for isotretinoin. Manage as a chronic disease. Good luck. ...Read more
Forgive my frankness: Imagine that you are caught in a burning building. Would you ask the fire department, "how can you help me without spraying water?" don't let some aversion you have to scientific medicine cause yourself or a teen for whom you are responsible suffer unnecessarily from a chronic, serious, non-lifestyle-related, readily-manageable disease. Usually you will be clear shortly. Best wishes. ...Read more

If you are responsible for the phyisical and emotional health of a teenager, it would be inexcusable not to make scientific rx available to him/her from a qualified physician. Acne is a serious, non-lifestyle-related disease that's often disfiguring and deserves 21st century rx. ...Read more
No: Despite anecdotes and ads, no "holistic" remedy helps much. I start with topical Clindamycin with or without a retinoic acid derivative. If needed after a few weeks, consider adding an oral antibiotic such as Erythromycin or tetracycline / Minocycline as suitable for the individual. Dermatologists have the big guns -- accutane, lasers. Freedom from acne should be a person's right. Good luck. ...Read more
Let's get real: The stuff that works the best -- antibiotics and vitamin a derivatives -- are mother nature's gifts. The stuff that doesn'twork (painting your face with magic honey, squeezing lemons on pimples) are unworthy of anyone in the 21st century. Whoever told you "natural is better" did you a grave disservice. Take charge and and get effective rx from your physician. ...Read more
