Go to a good store or get some guidance because the popular brands are typically very week and not helpful. The dose (read label and check that half or more of the ingredients are several 100 per cent above RDA. Dose more important than a long list. Ask about a specific condition or supplement ...Read more

This question has...: ....Too many answers! supplementing with vitamins is often unnecessary if you eat a good and varied diet. Many vegetables and grains are great sources of fiber. Apart from healthy eating,to gain more nutrition-good idea to make hot chocolate with nutritionally rich cocoa powder, vanilla extract & stevia daily?
Sounds good: So good, in fact, that if this is what you want to drink, drink it and don't even worry whether this is our idea of a perfect ideal beverage choice. If you are healthy, just staying physically fit is much more important than obsessing over food choices. I would bet you know this already. Enjoy the chocolate. ...Read more
Good question: The research (vs. The hype and the internet rumors) are a muddled mess right now. So far as i can tell: there is no current good evidence sweeteners cause cancer, but there are a handful of people who do not tolerate these fake sugars. There is some concern the 'sweet' taste nevertheless triggers things to make them no less bad for health in general. ...Read more
NO!: I strongly advise everyone take a quality multivitamin as the vast majority of americans don't get adequate vitamins & minerals from their diet, but vitamins are not a substitute for a healthy diet. Fruits & veggies have a complex mix of hundreds of phytonutrients like carotenoids, flavonols & anthocyanins that aren't found in vitamin supplements. Eat fruits/veggies of all colors for good health! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Probably not: Definitions of "natural food" vary. There's a huge amount of cultism and misguided emotion here. There's less tendency to overeat health food than processed food (though i often can't stop eating raising-and-peanuts). We couldn't feed our world without pesticides & fertilizers & these don't make food unhealthy -- i'm not going to argue here. Do your own thinking & decide who to trust. ...Read more
Not necessarily: While BPA is hazardous because of its hormone-disrupting estrogenic effects, the problem is that cans without BPA use alternatives like BPF, BPS, vinyl and polyester that may be as or more toxic than BPA and it is hard to learn what alternatives are being used! Can my body naturally start not agreeing with certain foods/drinks after eating healthier foods and home made natural juices?
For the most part: If you fry foods at too low a temperature or put too much food in the pan it will lengthen the time it takes to cook and will cause the food to absorb more fat from the oils. Some oils are less healthy than others. Studies support the notion that fried foods increase the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Frying in a canola oil for very brief time at high temp may be less harmful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Bioavailability vs..: Bioavailability may vary depending on the source of your vitamin supplement. Potency and purity however play significant roles in the efficacy of the supplement, regardless of source. Find the cheapest vitamin that approaches 100% rdu (recommended daily allowance) and save money over "natural source" ones. There are of course significant benefits from eating healthy foods in general. ...Read more

Is the quality of vitamins and minerals from supplements equal to those obtained naturally by eating fruit, veg.?
Effects may differ: The vitamins and minerals in supplements are synthesized forms of what is found in food. The problem with depending on supplements rather than eating a balanced diet is that a lot is not known about how the nutrients in foods interact with each other to nourish our bodies. And those interactions cannot (yet) be duplicated in pill form. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
