Natural Alternatives To Atenolol
Atenolol is a relatively long-acting (24 hours) beta-blocker. Beta-blockers as a group of medications calm or slow the heart rate down. They stop the swings in hr from stress or nerves. If someone is on a good dose of a beta-blocker and are startled, the medication suppresses the pounding of your heart. It also won't allow the hr to climb with exercise. It's used to ...Read more
After 5 years of taking tenoretic (atenolol and chlorthalidone) for high blood pressure, I want to stop. Is there an alternative natural remedy?
Possibly: If you are already at an ideal body weight, eat a healthy diet including limiting alcohol intake and exercise regularly you may have done most of what can be done naturally. As to non-drug remedies beyond these measures, I have to admit ignorance. Consultig with your personal caregiver may be helpful. Even if the above measures don't achieve a normal blood pressure they are good for us anyway! ...Read more

Multiple: Talk with your provider. Fatigue is a common side effect with beta blockers, such as atenolol. I take 50mg of atenolol been on in 10 months. I notice its giving me anxiety and depression. More so now than at first. What's an alternative to this?
89 year old with symptoms of dementia; on 10 mg daily inderal; is there an appropriate alternative. She had adverse reaction to atenolol years ago.?
Yes: The main question is whether her hypertension is adequately managed with inderal (propranolol). If it is managed appropriately it is unlikely that 10 mg of Inderal (propranolol) is causing adverse effect on her brain. However if she is having any symptoms that can be construed as due to the inderal (propranolol), perhaps an agent from a different class would be more suitable. We have believed that the beta blockers have psych se's. ...Read more

. This particular diet agents can cause liver damage. It has garcinia cambodia in it. It has very little to recommend in terms of actual weight loss. It would be a waste of your money. You don't put your doses down of Suboxone and xanax (alprazolam). I hope that your Suboxone prescriber is aware of the xanax (alprazolam).I also hope that you are aware of the potential risks of the combination. It is not an absolute contraindication to use them both together, but caution certainly is encouraged and I think that a sleep study on the combination should be done to make sure that you are not having any formof obstructive or central apnea, both of which could lead to weight gain. Best wishes. ...Read more

Do yo meanPill size?: I'm not sure of the context of your question. Atenolol comes in 25, 50, and 100 mg tablets so the highest pill size is 100 mg. Usually it is taken once daily for high blood pressure, but for cases of cardiac angina (a medical diagnosis), it is taken twice daily (so the maximum daily dose is 200 mg). I suppose higher doses are possible but should be under your doctors' supervision / instructions. ...Read more
