Doctor insights on:
My son Nathan has a mild cough and runny noise but no fever should I take him to the hospital or not?
Trust your instincts: It sounds like he has a cold. Unless he is having trouble breathing or a fever that doesn't respond to medication then you can use your judgement. If you think he really looks ill and you are worried then always trust your instincts. If he just has a mild cold then there is no reason to go to the ER. ...Read more

What is the best way to find a surgeon very experienced at presacral tumor resection? Willing to travel nation-wide, major cancer ctr or academic inst
I would strongly recommend that you see dr. Lou harrison in manhattan at beth israel medical center. He invented the ham applicator (harrison, anderson and mack), which allows intraoperative radiation to the sacral bed if a cancerous tumor is found.
His surgeons are excellent, but the availability of intraoperative radiation is just as crucial to outcome as good surgical technique. ...Read more

Find an expert: Not familiar w/ Perth, but in Sydney, some therapists specialize in PPD and it's really good to minimize medications as a new mother. Many find this time difficult emotionally and the various demands on you are huge! Seek an experienced therapist and it will really help - your OBGYN may have referral lists. Pristiq's main side effect is insomnia/fatigue. Your dose is 3X usual w/out known benefit. ...Read more
Past few days my ear hurts very bad & my hearing is muffled in the ear I've tryd 2 clean it but nothin comes out I use sweet oil but it won't go down??
Maybe External Otiti: If your ear hurts when you manipulate your ear, it is probably external otitis--i.e., infection of the external ear canal, usually caused by a scratch while cleaning. If so, you may be able to treat it at home by instilling a 50:50 solution of alcohol and vinegar. The acetic acid in the vinegar kills the bacteria and the alcohol will keep the ear dry. ...Read more

Trying to grow thicker hair mine is very thin, paper thin, would pre-natal vitamins help? Not pregnant! Not looking to be! On nexplanon and BC pills
May help: I have had a lot of patients tell me they have had success in obtaining longer, thicker, healthier hair and nails while taking prenatal vitamins whether they've been pregnant or not. It will not hurt you to take them if you are not pregnant. Some of the essential hair growth vitamins are Vitamin C, Biotin, and Niacin among others. Good luck! ...Read more
I have a seafood allergy and I was prescribed citra natal assure. I was told I should have no problem with the DHA because there is no fish oil in this. Is that correct? I have a very sensitive stomach....if I cannot tolerate these what would be a good ov
Ok: Even if you were allergic to fish, fish oil rarely if ever causes problem since there is practically no fish protein present in the oil from reputable manufacturers. If DHA is free of fish protein, then the chances of reaction would be nil at least from an allergic point of view. Whether you can tolerate anything is another issue. ...Read more

Penis size: Am I OK?:
When ever I meet a patient who feels his penis is too small I have them do some reading online about what the average sizes of penises are and try to have them feel like they are probably normal and okay.
My experience talking to sexually active adults is that size is not as important as how one makes love... What you do with it is what counts to a partner. ...Read more
