Depends : There are many different procedures done to improve nasal function in children and adults. Adenoidectomy is the most common procedure in children and is very safe. See alllergist: These may be all related to allergy. Unless the spur is obstructing your passages permanently, surgery would not make much difference. Even if you have the surgery, your allergic problem would not go away. Get a 2nd opinion before you go for the surgery. If you have access to an allergist, go see one. In the meanwhile, make sure that you are aiming the nasal spray towards the side of the nose. ...Read more

My baby 6 months old with cough , nasal obstruction , low grade fever , she even can not sleep and always crying , does she need antibiotic or antitussive?

See your doctor: This could be merely a common cold with the symptoms you are describing. Saline nose drops and suctioning gently with upright positioning and steamy baths may help to weather this illness. The cough may also represent a phenomena known as bronchiolitis-head cold with some wheezing. Some docs may recommend a nebulizer with medication used in asthma care for the deep cough/wheeze. ...Read more

My daughter, 5 months old, has nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Is it recommended to "massage" her nose? In what age surgical intervention is needed?

General rules: Tear sac compression uses the tip of a finger, rolled from the nose down over the inner corner of the eye. As the kids head grows, the tear duct size increases and at some point debris blocking the duct is pushed out of the way and drainage improves. If the kid is getting constant lid infections or approaches 9 mo without improvement, i sent them to my local eye docs for probing under anesthesia. ...Read more
