May be: Nasal rinses with xylitol may be more effective than simple saline solutions. They may not prevent sinusitis, but will help reduce their occurrence. This does not mean that you do not need replacement ig. That depends on what your overall symptoms, what kind of infections you had and so forth. A few things..: You can try a neti pot- rinsing out your sinuses can be very helpful. You may also try a short course of oral decongestants or an antihistamine with a decongestant in it (like Claritin-D). You could also benefit from a prescription nasal steroid- you may have chronic allergies causing your symptoms. Humidified air may help with the facial/sinus swelling. ...Read more

Possible Sinusitis: The diagnosis of a bacterial sinus infection can be be quite difficult. Most causes of post nasal drip will not require antibiotics. Certainly facial pain and postnasal drip are important signs and can make you feel miserable. Continue with abx: treatment for infectious sinusitis should be with prolonged course of antibiotics, 2-3 weeks at least. if the symptoms persist , obtain a culture of the secretion , as other infections such as staph can not be treated effectively with casual antibiotics. after the third episode of sinusitis, obtain a CT of the sinuses. ...Read more
