Nasal Passage Dry And Painful
The very back of my nasal passage, where it connects to the back of the throat, is very dry. Its painful to swallow. How do I get rid of this?
I have empty nasal syndrome, what is the best solution to keep nasal passage wet? Its getting dry and block often.
Irrigate: I assume that by saying empty nasal syndrome you mean that you have had multiple sinus surgeries and have chronic nasal crusting and dryness. Irrigating often with a high flow saline irrigation, much more than simple ocean spray is typically quite helpful. I like the neilmed system that can be purchased from the grocery store and is inexpensive. Seeing your physician and considering adding pulmicort, something typically used to treat asthma or emphysema by inhalation into the lungs can be quite helpful with this condition. ...Read more
I get small but very painful (only to touch) bumps on the inside of my nasal passage. They last 1-2 days and disappear. Happens every few weeks.
Dryness: Your mucus membranes in the nasal passages may be too dry and this makes them susceptible to infections (small pustules). You also may catch more colds. To avoid such dryness, lower your thermostat and you may need a humidifier during the winter. Try coating the insides of your nostril with a very thin film of vaseline daily. ...Read more

Several suggestions: If it is just over the last few days then otc sudafed and older drying antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can help. This time of year start to see tree pollen allergy so allergy meds may help. If unilateral watery drainage continues then possible spinal fluid leak from sinuses so would need ENT eval. ...Read more

My nasal passage gets quite a bit painful when I'm outside n breathing in cold air, if I cover my nostrils the pain goes away, why does it hurt?
Dryness or cold sens: Cold air doesn't hold as much moisture and can be irritating especially if the nose is already dry which it is this time of year which is why it's better when it's covered. Suggest drops of sesame oil several times daily especially in the winter. It is a great moisturizer. Consider nasal steroid if oil doesn't work. ...Read more
