Good that : Your asthma is under control. You will need to maintain your steroid treatment for at least three months and wean off from your albuterol gradually . Oftentimes we forget that using a nebulizer also loosens up nasal mucus that drains in the back of the throat causing persistent coughing! continue your meds as prescribed. Manage symptoms: Saline nasal rinses, hydration and Mucinex can help to clear mucous. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can reduce drainage but would not use it during day as it is sedating and affect mental performance. Honey and dextromethorphin can reduce the cough. Post nasal drainage: Hello, the PND you are experiencing may be related to your Mucinex itself. That medication is called a mucolytic which acts to thin mucus and therefore it increases it's mobility and flow. Your lymph nodes are reactive glands that become swollen with inflammation. You may have or had a URI that is in the stage of resolution. Try plain tylenol (acetaminophen) for a few days. If no improvement, see your doctor. ...Read more

Persistent PND: Could try Moneleukast if it is allergic. Also antihistamine sprays like Astelin (azelastine). Check for reflux as untreated reflux can backsplash into sinuses when sleeping/ lying flat and cause drainage. Elevate head of bed ,try 1 benedryl before bed, get allergy tested food /enviroment.
