Non allergic nasal drip chronic. What is best treatment?

Non allergic nasal drip chronic. What is best treatment?

First generation: Antihistamines are effective due to their anticholinergic (drying) effect. The most popular is diphenhydramine. Unfortunately these medications are poorly tolerated due to their side effect of lethargy. Another class of medications you can try are topical nasal antihistamines. Azelastine has been shown in clinical trials to be effective for non-allergic rhinitis. This must be prescribed.

Is there treatment for nasal odor?

Is there treatment for nasal odor?

It depends: On what the cause of the odor is. It could be related to a bacterial or fungal infection. It could be related to food that passes into the nose instead of down the "food pipe" during swallowing - so called nasopharyngeal reflux. Your best bet is to seek an evaluation from an ear nose throat physician. In the meanwhile, you may consider regular nasal saline rinses. Good luck.

What is the treatment for nasal overdose?

???: I'm not sure what this medication is and can't find it in any books...Do you mean nasal saline? If so, you can't really overdose on it since it's just salt water. Swallowing too much of it can, rarely, affect one's blood pressure and body water volume if there are known heart problems.

What are treatment options for nasal polyps?

Medical or surgical: Depending on the size and the symptoms, medical treatment with both topical and oral steroids for a limited period of time can give enormous relief. But the etiology or cause of nasal polyps is still an enigma but there is increasing evidence that it is a genetic disease. If the nasal passages are significantly obstructed and smell is decreased, surgery will give long term relief.

Postnasal drip: The standard treatment is with an otc antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (sedating) or Claritin (non-sedating).
