How long?: If it is a chronic problem , there are many potential causes but hay fever being the most common. Sometimes the nose may start running after reduction of the nasal congestion. How long?: If these have been present for months or years, you likely have an allergic condition. If they have been present for less than a week, it is likely from a cold.
