Nasal Congestion For Two Weeks With No Pressure Or Mucus Drainage
I've had a cold with a productive and raspy cough followed now with lots of sinus pressure and congestion for over 3 weeks. Sinus infection? See a dr?
See a doc: Because this is going on for so long, it's worthwhile to get checked. Antibiotics are rarely needed for bronchitis or sinusitis, but when symptoms persist for over 2 weeks, especially if they are getting worse... Sometimes antibiotics are what you need. Your doctor will be able to help you out with this one. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can Singulair (montelukast) help with post nasal drip and thick/plugged mucus (no nasal discharge)? Been taking it for perennial rhinitis for 2 weeks and no help.
No it won't: Singulair (montelukast) helps reduce inflammation in the airways, upper or lower, helps as an adjuvant therapy on the long term, not meant to treat acute or chronic bacterial/viral infection of the respiratory tract. See your doctor for evaluation, possible chronic rhinosinusitis. You may want to see an Allergist/Immunologist if you have access to one or an ENT specialist, best wishes ...Read more

What can cause post-nasal drip with blood? I think I have an infection or allergy or sinusitis- green mucus and post nasal drip with clogged up nose and recent cough. In fact, since i can remember I have had a stuffy nose with plenty of mucus in my nose.
Acute : Acute sinusitis is characterized by increase mucous (often colored), sinus pain/pressure, nasal congestion/clogging), cough, nose bleeds (epistaxis), minimal if any fever. It most often goea away on its own but antibioticas can help if the symptoms persist longer than 10-14 days without improvment. Nose bleeds this time of year are very common as the air in our homes is very dry due to our heating systems. It would be important to moisten the nose with saline sprays multiple (3-4) times a day. That will moisten the lining to help healing and loosen the secretions for easier clearing. I would recomment finding a primary care doctor to help sort out some of your health issues and help avoid the inconvenience and expense of the er for these nonemercencies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it normal to have a cold or stuffy runny nose, coughing, mucus or nasal drip, chest congestion and wheezing for months on end? Doesn't seem normal!
You are right: It is not normal. With this history, your symtoms sounds like chronic nasal allergy and asthma, but you need to see a doctor to take your history and fully evaluate your condition. Wheezing for months on end can lull a person into thinking it's normal. It is not, and untreated asthma can become life-threatening. Of course, it could be something else. Please see a doctor this week! ...Read more
